Do you know a researcher who deserves recognition? Nominate them for a prize! Wiley have launched Wiley Research Heroes Prize, a competition that gives researchers a chance to celebrate colleagues who go above and beyond their usual duties. Is there someone in your department, professional association, or lab who goes above and beyond their usual duties? Who puts in extra time, effort, and commitment to help others? Your research hero could be the person whose passion inspires you to keep investigating or the colleague who volunteers as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion champion in your organization. They could be the person who always finds time to read your manuscript before you submit it to a journal or will give you advice on how to improve your poster. #WileyResearchHeroes https://lnkd.in/esY76qDE

Another Inclusion mistake I see all the time: “Seeing what others are doing” then copying it. Everyone can tell you what they are doing. Very few can tell you if what they are doing works. If enough people tell you the same thing.. You may be convinced it’s a best practice. 🤔 It’s more likely to be a common practice. 🤔 This doesn’t make it effective. We tell our clients: gather evidence to solve specific challenges you care about. Make sure you include the following sources. - The Scientific literature - Your Stakeholders - Your organisation. Then, consider so called “best practices” too. [ Check the image for Alt Text. ]

https://lnkd.in/dqZ82gpt via @researchgate https://lnkd.in/dqZ82gpt I have got five recommendations for some of my Publications so far. Such an achievement is giving me a positive momentum to restart writing up new papers as a humble contribution to knowledge and attribution to my higher educational institution UNISL.

Subject & Course Lead of Electronic/Electrical Engineering at BCU| Chartered Engineer| MIET|SMIEEE|P.Tech MBOT| WoS Top Peer Reviewers 2019| World's Top 2% Scientist (Elsevier & Stanford University)| Associate Professor
Like journals indexing and ranking (SCIE/WoS/Scopus, etc.) and their impact factor, whether we like it or not, or think it is accurate or not, all types of indexing and recognition, including World's Top 2% Scientests List, have their metrics with good and bad sides. However, it is important not to criticise those who celebrate their recognition. It’s a free way to acknowledge their hard work, and we should respect their success and use it as motivation for our own progress. https://lnkd.in/e3pVGXHy #TopResearchersList #Research #Citations #Recognistion #Elsevier #StanfordUniversity

Great to see this excellent and honest example of peer review at #JORS. Not always perfect, but when it works it really makes a difference - constructive, selfless and advancing the state-of-the-art. Thanks for sharing Martin Kunc! #ThisIsOR #ORMS #operationalresearch #operationsresearch #analytics #managementscience #decisionscience #decisionmaking #journals #peerreview
We are not the perfect journal, but we are the oldest journal in #operationsresearch. Sometimes we made mistakes or are delayed in getting back to authors. We are not perfect but what makes our day as editors of the Journal of the Operational Research Society is to receive a comment like this from one of our authors: "I just wanted to email to say how impressed I was by one of the reviewers for JORS. I think the reviewer for my paper submitted to JORS has done a brilliant job in terms of giving thorough and detailed feedback including R code to help with the revision. I just wanted to say how grateful I was for this and how moved I was that the reviewer would go out of their way to help like this. In a pressurised and sometimes cut-throat industry I just wanted to pass on my gratitude for such kind and professional work." Firstly, we are extremely grateful to the huge efforts of our associate editors and reviewers that provide excellent feedback. Secondly, we are also grateful to great authors who consider JORS as their preferred journal. Research success can indeed be influenced by various factors, such as: Your h-index: Reflects both the volume and impact of your published work. Co-author h-index: The citation metrics of your collaborators can affect the visibility and impact of joint publications. Diversity of topics: A broad research profile can attract citations from different fields, potentially enhancing your h-index. Geographic location: The location of your institution can impact collaboration opportunities and access to research resources. Name recognition: A well-known name in your field may increase the visibility and influence of your research.
