Energy communities, defined as those where a significant portion of the population is reliant on the local coal, oil, or natural gas industries, usually face higher risks than surrounding communities. Not only due to the environmental and health impacts of these industries but also because it leave many community members vulnerable to lay-offs. As we transition towards cleaner energy, the number of coal workers has dropped to half what it was in 2012. This leaves many families struggling to meet basic needs. Thankfully, training programs have shown themselves effective in bringing back hope. Equity is of utmost importance when navigating the energy transition. ⚖️ ☀️ Follow our page for more energy equity news! https://buff.ly/3uMBMBe #socialimpact #equity #equityandinclusion #climatechange #environment #sustainability #climatechange #environment #sustainability
