Field Operations Engineer 🖤💀⚙️ 🎶 Rule number 32: "Always enjoy the little things." A Flare 🔥 is a thin and tall structure, present in industrial places, that releases steam or flame at its top. It is a gas combustion device that carries out the controlled burning of waste. It also protects the equipment of many oil and gas extraction facilities from the dangers of overpressures. When oil is extracted from offshore or onshore fields, the natural gas associated with this oil is also brought to the surface. As a result, they are mainly found in refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants, natural gas processing plants, offshore exploration and/or production platforms. Flare ignition can occur for several reasons: - Part of the test to stabilize the pressure and flow of the well. - To manage residual gas that is not captured or processed. - For safety reasons, releasing pressure.
