College Courses While Playing Juniors (Part 1) This article aims to provide insight and reassurance for junior hockey players interested in college courses alongside their hockey careers. By doing so, players can arrive on college campuses as first—or second-semester sophomores without having to take basic freshman classes. However, certain issues need to be considered before diving into this process. This discussion is focused on players seeking to play NCAA DI and DIII hockey. One of the primary concerns is what courses transfer and how many courses can be taken. Although the college coaches usually direct players to the school compliance officer or the admissions department for specific answers, the rule of thumb is that players can only enroll full-time before college hockey if they start the eligibility clock. The NCAA states that a full-time student is typically enrolled for at least 12 credit hours in an academic term, and students who meet the college's definition of "full-time" at any time during the term are considered full-time students. The transfer eligibility worksheet can be found at NCAA.org. Players can take one or two classes, and even three (3 credit classes), and remain eligible. However, taking three courses is not recommended. It's important to note that academic standing and years of playing eligibility are separate items. A player can be an academic sophomore and still have all four years of playing eligibility left. To ensure that all credits are fully transferred, it's a good idea to stick to the basic core classes, such as calculus, English, advanced writing, physics, and advanced languages. However, more challenging academic schools may trim some of the transfer credits, and many schools do not accept transfer credits that are grade C or below.

Did you know the NCAA was founded on the 11th of April 1906? After an amazing TV viewing audience for last week's NCAA women's basketball championships, we wanted to share with you a bit more about the NCAA. They were established with the primary goal of regulating college athletics and ensuring the well-being of student-athletes; the NCAA has grown to become the governing body for more than 1,100 institutions, conferences, and organizations. Its influence extends across a wide array of sports, from basketball and football to swimming and soccer. Throughout its history, the NCAA has championed the values of fairness, integrity, and excellence in both academics and athletics. It has implemented rules and regulations to maintain a level playing field and to promote the holistic development of student-athletes. Over the years, the NCAA has evolved to meet the changing landscape of college sports, adapting its policies to address issues such as amateurism, eligibility, and student-athlete welfare. It has also played a pivotal role in the growth of intercollegiate athletics, organizing and overseeing numerous championships and tournaments that have captivated fans and inspired athletes worldwide. We thought this incredible organization needs to be credited for its enduring legacy and the countless student-athletes who have benefited from its programs and initiatives. Here's to another century of excellence and sportsmanship under your guidance. #fuelsports #ncaa #sportsfact
