This gifting of the Match Ball sponsership to a life long fan just seemed like 'The Right Thing To Do'. Twists of fait brought our paths together. Match Ball Sponsors are normally in the Arnold Hills (as we were previous). However myself and others prefer the Forge because we get seats closer to the pitch (even if we go through another lounge), the rooms are more of a bustle although some might say slightly less sophisticated / exclusive. So I requested the change to suit 'our tastes'. On the offical site Aronald hills is 4x£ compared to Forge 3x£ but we want to see and 'feel' the game. Our tables happened to be next to each other due to the size of both parties, and the friendliness of both groups meant there was some interaction. After swwing the cake come out and hearing the stories, it was just the right thing to do. There will be other balls, but only one 85th. So, another season of the utterly pointless rugby URC, set up by Irish clubs and broadcasters for the benefit of Irish clubs and broadcasters. I'm currently watching an Italian side against a Welsh side with two Irish commentators. The Welsh side is sponsored by a local recycling centre. If Welsh rugby is to get anywhere it needs to align itself with where the money is, which is England. Joining Welsh, English and Scottish rugby would build a league inestimably more valuable than any current league the constituent clubs operate in, from sponsorship, attendance and finding a proper broadcast partner. Proper management should see this league valued at least at that of the third tier of English football, around a quarter of a billion, not the current £80 or so million. The business lesson ? Select the most valuable market to play in rather than just getting by in an inadequate market.

The announcement by Super Rugby franchise, the Blues, regarding their decision to end the partnership with Du Val raises noteworthy questions about the nature of sponsorship agreements. It’s perplexing to consider how a non-paying entity could be classified as a partner. Could we instead view this situation as a candid admission by the Blues that they may have been misled in this arrangement? After three Premiership Rugby clubs went into administration last season with London Irish, Wasps and Worcester Warriors all entering the process the financial turmoils of professional rugby clubs have taken somewhat of a back seat to action on the pitch. Fan bases of the three clubs that went into administration will be hoping that professional rugby returns to their region but for Worcester Warriors fans the situation has become further complicated by the news that its new owner Atlas Worcester Warriors Rugby Club Limited appointed Administrators last week. Atlas initially acquired the business and assets of WRFC Trading Limited in May last year. A pre pack sale of Atlas completed following the Administrators appointment and there still remains a focus on bringing first tier rugby back to Worcester. As for other clubs in the league and professional rugby in England generally the financial struggles do continue. Clubs face losing players to lucrative Top 14 contracts and salary cap restrictions, and although average attendances are increasing marginally, notwithstanding the cost of living crisis and reduced number of fixtures in a season, generating sufficient matchday income and over revenue to create a sustainable business model is extremely difficult when clubs seem to perennially make losses. #insolvency #businessrecovery #restructuring #turnaround #business #rugby #accountant #london

Gayton McKenzie, the South African Minister of Sports, has advised SA Rugby to reject the latest offer from the US-Based Ackerley Sports Group to acquire a 20% share in the Springboks' commercial interests. McKenzie declared for News24 that he opposes ASG’s proposal to combine with a South African consortium and invest in the South African Rugby Union’s commercial rights company.
