🦆🦆🦆It is imperative that medical professionals learn to recognize grooming, especially in the behaviors of other medical professionals. There is a chapter in my book dedicated to medical settings and the risk factors for abuse. 😷🩺⚕️This horrible case highlights that well respected medical professionals often have the ability to do as they please under the banner of “medical need”. It is especially common in religious and isolated communities with strong cultural/ behavioral norms. 📞 ☎️📱These brave women who stepped forward to call out this predator have my respect and compassion. 📢 In one of our latest original research papers, researchers from the Institute for Policy Solutions at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing unveil the factors that shape Latino and Black fathers’ decisions about when to initiate condom guidance with their sons. Unraveling the Mediating Role of Frailty: Understanding Health Care Utilization among Older Sexual and Gender Minority Adults in the All of Us Research Program #OHDSISocialShowcase #JoinTheJourney Lead: Chelsea N Wong Team: Louisa H. Smith, Rob Cavanaugh, Brianne Olivieri-Mui, PhD, MPH Background: Older sexual and gender minorities (OSGM) have a higher burden of frailty and mental health conditions compared to non-SGM older adults (non-OSGM). Evidence from New York City suggests, OSGM are twice as likely to utilize mental health care compared to non-OSGM. Moreover, frailty among non-OSGM has been linked to higher utilization of health care, including general doctor visits, hospitalizations, and emergency department visits. However, the extent to which frailty impacts the relaAonship between OSGM status and health care uAlizaAon is poorly understood. Therefore, the aim of this study was to establish whether frailty acts as a mediator between sexual and gender minority (SGM) status and use of general doctor visits and mental health visits. Our hypothesis posits that individuals who are not frail will demonstrate a weaker positive association between OSGM status and healthcare utilization. https://lnkd.in/eGF5jGtJ
