These injuries are often complex, involving multiple fractures and extensive tissue damage. Congratulations to Dr. Ahmet Baschat, Director for the Johns Hopkins Center for Fetal Therapy, on receiving the Ian Donald Gold Medal Award from ISUOG International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. This prestigious award is given once a year to an individual who has made a significant scientific contribution to the advancement of diagnostic ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and who has changed the way ultrasound is practiced through research or innovation.

In September, The Johns Hopkins Hospital welcomed congressional staff members and agency officials for an immersive, hands-on experience designed to highlight the critical impact of federal investment in graduate medical education (GME). The annual event showcases our central role in training the next generation of clinicians and researchers. During the visit, participants engaged with clinicians, trainees and medical experts, gaining a comprehensive understanding of current trends and future challenges in health care workforce development. Attendees participated in a variety of immersive activities, including emergency response skills, CPR and lifesaving interventions for young patients, robot-assisted and minimally invasive surgery, live birthing simulations and airway management techniques, critical for saving lives.

School-based health centers (SBHCs), such as the Johns Hopkins Rales Health Center at KIPP Baltimore, are designed to provide and improve access to health care services for children and adolescents experiencing health and educational disparities. A group of Johns Hopkins Children's Center researchers from the Rales Center for the Integration of Health and Education examined whether students enrolled in a comprehensive SBHC demonstrated more growth in standardized assessments of math and reading over four school years compared with students not enrolled in an SBHC. Findings from the study, published in Academic Pediatrics, found that elementary and middle school students enrolled in an SBHC demonstrated more growth in math and reading skills and had fewer school absences compared with those not enrolled in an SBHC. https://bit.ly/4dGvcNA
