🌊 For this week’s Innovation to Market project showcase, Build sets to highlight Raccoon, a conceptual marketplace mobile application to satisfy all college student’s second hand buying and selling needs. Raccoon realized that there is no centralized location for university students to buy, sell, and trade affordable student resources such as textbooks, school supplies, dorm furniture, etc. Facebook and on campus stores currently address this need, but have no centralization, require higher levels of access, and do not always tend to be affordable options. Raccoon aims to create a C to C trading platform that helps college students buy, sell, and trade school related goods in an affordable and convenient manner.
🦝 Raccoon’s mobile application allows students to easily browse and buy student items specific to their own campus. They allow users to conveniently make transactions with satisfaction in both sellers getting rid of the items with some money back and buyers getting the products at an affordable price. The service would in turn help with sustainability and environmental problems by reducing the wastes of college students.
🏆 Raccoon was the class's most decorated group, winning three separate awards. Professor Helen Wang awarded Raccoon the "Entrepreneurs of the Year" as they best demonstrated teamwork and the learn by doing method. Sean McCrary, CPIM, Director of Business Operations Intelligence at Thermo Fisher Scientific, awarded them with "The Best Pitch." Lastly, Raccoon received the most votes by their peers for the "Student Choice Awards"
