I spent the last few days at the World Health Organization with students of The Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development as part of their experiential learning about international health policy. The jam-packed programme covered current global health challenges and what is being done from policy and programme perspectives to address these challenges. As you can imagine, there was a wide range of issues - from antimicrobial resistance to health emergencies, quality of care, and migration. Here are three takeaways from this series of talks: 1. Shared responsibility To address lingering and emerging health challenges, we must work together to promote health for all. Bottom-up activism has a role in health politics and policymaking, which has untapped potential. 2. Money still talks
 Some of the most critical issues facing the most vulnerable is not being funded because it has not reached the richest, whitest and most secure. This is deeply unfair and unjust. 3. Data and research can drive further innovation
 We must continue to ask questions and seek answers rooted in data and evidence. The human experience is context-specific, so understanding those experiences in context will help us innovate specific, appropriate, and acceptable health interventions.
