As we progress into the colder months, keep your machinery in peak condition with these essential tips: 1️⃣ Check Coolant Levels – Low temperatures can affect coolant efficiency. Top up as needed to avoid freezing or reduced performance. 2️⃣ Apply Protective Coating – Properly coated parts are less likely to seize in cold weather. Inspect and coat moving parts to ensure smooth operation. 3️⃣ Inspect for Moisture Build-Up – Condensation can cause rust. Ensure machines are stored in dry, well-ventilated areas. 4️⃣ Clean Thoroughly – Removing dust and debris before winter can prevent clogging and keep your equipment functioning smoothly. 5️⃣ Schedule a Maintenance Check – A professional check-up now can help prevent unexpected downtime in colder conditions. Need support with your seasonal prep? Happy Tuesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. As temperatures drop this time of year, we need to adjust our mindset and our behavior to protect against the health and safety hazards created by cold weather. Here are some safe practices to incorporate into your day-to-day on a cold site: • 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. The safest approach is to wear layers so that you’re prepared for changes in weather conditions. • 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆. Cold temperatures cause muscles to contract, which increases the risk of strains and sprains. Stretching keeps your muscles warmed up and flexible. • 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Even if you’re wearing good boots and/or ice cleats, you need to be cautious when walking on snowy and icy paths. • 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 such as hypothermia, frostbite, and trench foot. For all, it’s critical to immediately get the victim medical attention. We wish you a warm and safe holiday season! At High Country, Safety is Life. #HighCountry #MYRGroup #Safety #ElectricalConstruction #ConstructionSafety
