As a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace, it’s important to address the pay gap that exists in our community. In Triple Pundit’s recent article, I share a few insights into this pressing concern with a few solutions to bridge the divide. 1. Break Through the Rainbow Glass Effect: The lack of LGBTQ+ representation in leadership positions creates a "Rainbow Glass Effect." We need more role models in leadership to inspire future generations. 2. Create Supportive Spaces: Peer groups, such as the Gay Men's Leadership Circles run by Peter Gandolfo, MBA, Executive Coach (PCC) and myself are invaluable. These spaces provide support, mentorship, and a sense of community that many LGBTQ+ professionals may not find within their organizations. 3. Self-Advocacy and Allyship: Advocating for ourselves is vital, but it's equally important for allies to step up. Allyship is about taking meaningful actions to create a safe and inclusive environment. Inclusive workplaces are not just a moral imperative; they're also good for business. When LGBTQ+ individuals can bring their authentic selves to work, it benefits both employees and organizations, leading to improved productivity and profitability.
