🎖 The selection of the right material is critical for these military applications. Fiberglass, widely used for its resistance to corrosion and weathering, stands out for its excellent tensile strength and its ability to provide almost imperceptible detection in thermal cameras on the battlefield. In addition to the material, fiber alignment is a key aspect to consider during the manufacturing process. The pullwinding method provides specific helical alignment to the fibers, resulting in thinner tube walls but with the necessary strength and stiffness for the required support. The choice of resin is also critical to enhance the mechanical properties of the composite. ⛑It is vital to collaborate with a trusted composite manufacturer to ensure that troops are equipped with custom-designed solutions to protect them at all times. By investing in lightweight, portable and rugged composite systems, you ensure the support needed to deal with critical situations on the battlefield and protect the integrity of the armed forces. #glassfiber #corrosionresistance #defense #pullwinding #resin #compositematerials #iberiacompositech #ICM #carbonfiber #carbonfibre

Tripflares are devices used by military forces to secure areas and guard against infiltration. They consist of tripwires connected to one or more flares. When the tripwire is triggered, the flare lights up, alerting that the perimeter might have been breached and providing light for investigation. At Goodfish Powell and Harber in Worcester, we mould the parts that form the body of these flares. These components require an additional hole to be drilled after moulding, as it cannot be included during the initial moulding process. Learn more about our secondary operations and how we cater to bespoke designs and mouldings that require additional services at https://lnkd.in/eQZEEz5a #Manufacturing #InjectionMoulding #Plastic #SecondaryOps #UKManufacturing #Engineering #Production #IndustrialDesign #CustomMoulding #WorcesterBusiness #UKEngineering #DefenceManufacturing #BespokeDesign #PrecisionEngineering #ManufacturingUK #DefenceIndustry #DefenceTechnology #MilitaryManufacturing #DefenceEquipment #UKDefence #MilitaryTech #DefenceSolutions

In 1944 the US produced a B24 Liberator every 63 minutes. At the Aerospace Industries Association Board of Governors meeting this week Dr. LaPlante, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD(A&S)) used a tagline, "Production is deterrence." This article talks in detail about how the US Defense Industrial Base needs to revamp how products are made. We live in a world where the backlog in our defense industry is massive, so sales is not the issue: Throughput is. Through digital engineering and manufacturing we can start to chip away at this problem. https://lnkd.in/ginrrjxz
