The innovations are needed for primary healthcare in private sector as well. Foundation for People-centric Health Systems (FPHS) is proud to announce an innovation by Chandrakant Lahariya in private sector primary healthcare. India's first specialty clinic Centre for Health: The Specialty Practice with Sliding scale consultation fee model will be followed. The patient would decide the consultation fee to be paid to the doctor. There would be differential consultation fee based upon certain predefined criteria and the patient can go one level down. The very poor patient will not be charged and their fee would be covered by the Foundation for People-centric Health Systems (FPHS) This is true private sector for public purpose in Health.

More Wild Health Summits burning GP thoughts: Online-only digital health providers need formal regulation to coexist with traditional GP’s moving forward. Currently, we have a very clear divide between traditional General Practice and online-only providers. There's a lot of negative back-and-forth from both sides. Traditional GP clinics see many of these providers as highly predatory and providing low-value care. Online-only providers see traditional GP as clunky, inaccessible, and failing to meet patient demand, particularly in certain niche areas. Moving forward, traditional/community General Practice will need digital solutions to help continue to meet demand from their patients. Online-only providers can coexist in this space but should be servicing demand as a part of a traditional Practice. I see a world where referral to an online-only provider is the same as referring to a local physio or a local specialist service. But to do this, there need to be clear standards to sort the wheat from the chaff. At the moment, digital-only clinics are a mishmash of VC startups, quick-buck seekers, and some who are seeking to provide a revolutionary clinical service. The college and traditional general practice need to get in front of the issue and lead a conversation about standards. That way I (as a regular GP) can help to sort real and ethical providers from those that are seeking a quick buck and potentially refer appropriately. Unfortunately, if we continue to ignore this space, it will keep growing and hoovering up patients to the detriment of both consumers and longitudinal care.
