Product Driven Founder/CTO for 20 years, Bootstrapped a SaaS company to a 9 figure exit, CEO of Full Scale
The Philippines is my favorite place to hire software developers. After working with hundreds of them, here are my top 5 reasons. 1. English fluency Most people don't realize the Philippines is the 3rd largest English speaking country in the world. Most people (60+%) there speak English, except for my in-laws, sadly. 🤷♂️ English is always essential because software development is always about communication! 2. Education Having your kids go to college is a massive source of pride in the Philippines. The country has many affordable and excellent schools, and the population is very well-educated. 3. Western Culture Their culture is very similar to the United States. From my experience, they know more about American movies than they do Filipino movies. 90% of the population is Catholic. They are some of the most festive and happy people in the world. They will out-party you! 4. Cost of living The cost of living in the Philippines is about 5x cheaper than in the United States. This is why so many people retire there, in addition to the perfect weather and tropical environment. The lower cost of living makes hiring developers 60-70% less. 5. Work ethic As a developing country, the Philippines can be a tough place to live. However, this has created a very resilient and hard-working culture. There is enormous pride and responsibility for supporting their families. --- Need to scale your team with top talent from the Philippines? Full Scale can help!

Developer with a salary $500 per month? It's possible, if you hire on Phillipines. Look into rates, salaries and market specific features. But it's not an easy hiring market, check what you should know and take into account to avoid hiring fail.
The Philippines is one of the most popular destinations to hire software developers. And it is not surprising. Some companies highlight convenient time-zones like with American companies. Others are impressed with the number of software developers (approximately 190,000 specialists). And of course businesses are thrilled about the affordability of services. 💰 On average, a software developer in the Philippines can expect to earn approximately $500 to $1,000 per month for entry-level positions. 💵 More experienced developers can command higher salaries, ranging from $1,000 to $2,300 per month or more. However, according to Qubit Labs experience by cooperating with Philippines developers we want you to be aware of several risks which you might face. Our CEO Iva Kozlovskaya would like to share some crucial tips and insights from her experience if you consider hiring software engineers from Philippines: 📌 Whether you hire a company or a specialist make sure your communication goes through the video call. Always. Sometimes, you may speak with one person, but service would be provided by different specialists. That's why video calls are a must! 📌 Always check potential candidates' soft and hard skills. The CV of specialists can contain information that is not true. In the interview make sure to provide specialists with a technical task (of course with video also). 📌 To have a higher chance to hire a decent specialist, we would advise to use a service of professional companies. Hiring people directly would be time-consuming as you have to check every potential candidate carefully. Qubit Labs prefers to hire in other locations! In our wide list are prospective tech hubs that have already proven their professionalism: Ukraine 🇺🇦 , Poland 🇵🇱 , Georgia 🇬🇪 , Moldova 🇲🇩 , Romania 🇷🇴 , Portugal 🇵🇹 , Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 , Brazil 🇧🇷 and Mexico 🇲🇽 . Just a few reasons why should you consider these countries: 👥 Great amount of software developers 🗣 English proficiency 🥇 Amazing price-to-quality ratio 🗺 Cultural fit 📈 Level of professionalism 🌎 Experience in working with foreign projects 💸 Affordable rates 💼 Convenient tax system Have ever had an experience working with Philippines developers? 🧭 I help digital enterprises navigate the coming Era of AI. 🤖 AI is changing business as we know it. 🤔 Will you disrupt—or be disrupted?
Language is one thing. Physical distance is another. But the biggest issue when off/nearshoring is *cultural* distance. Having developers that natively understand the cultural context in which the software they're building operates is critical. That's why I tend to prefer LatAm over Asia/Oceania. With almost 20% of the US now hispanic (and major markets like NY, LA, and Miami way, way, way more latin), the cultural distance between the US and Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico is basically insignificant. And as the world becomes more global, English levels are rapidly improving as well. Cultural distance first. Language second. Physical distance third.

Offshore works better if you speak the same language as the country you are hiring developers from. Or... You can hire developers from the Philippines, and they all speak amazing English. Nobody realizes the Philippines is one of the largest English speaking countries in the world. Software development is all about communication. Speaking the same language is critical. That's why I chose the Philippines 6 years ago, and Full Scale has grown like crazy, helping over 100 other companies build their dev teams. Need to hire amazing offshore talent? We can help you take advantage of this lesser-known secret. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gDZhPCha

When someone talks about Portugal, what comes to your mind? The first that crosses my mind is that it's home to about 100K top-tier developers, 10K+ software companies, and a great place to hire an offshore team or even open an entire R&D center. And only then do I think about the ocean and the sun. Occupational deformation, what can I say. In recent years, Portugal has become one of the most attractive places to hire developers. Let's figure out why in our article: https://lnkd.in/dXutZfK3

Silicon Valley developers are better than any developers in the world because they get paid more. FALSE! I posted how I can hire software developers for $30 an hour, and everyone immediately says the developers are terrible. 90% of software developers aren't in the United States. The cost of living around the world is much different in Silicon Valley than it is Kansas City, the Philippines, Latin America, or Africa. Do you know what isn't different? The raw intellect of people or their access to the internet to learn. They just need an opportunity. Remote work has opened it up like never before to hire global talent. You have the same problem I did 5 years ago. Everyone I talked to had a horror story of doing software development offshore in primarily India. I started my own company Full Scale in the Philippines to ensure we hired top talent and did it the right way. 300 employees and 5 years later, I can confirm we did. There is amazing talent everywhere if you know how to find it. Need help? Full Scale can help!
