It was great to attend the The Times #HealthSummit today to see the launch of the Commission's report and to hear from an impressive array of speakers. The report sets out 10 key recommendations to transform health and care, from harnessing the power of #roboticassistedsurgery and HIT lists to improve patient care and increase NHS productivity, through to the expansion of public health interventions to tackle the unsustainable rise in the numbers of people living with obesity. As ever, the proof will be in delivery and its now up to political, NHS and local leaders to implement the report's recommendations. https://lnkd.in/dkdXGHp5

Why Prevention is important in Healthcare systems ? Obesity and related chronic diseases have reached alarming levels globally, posing significant challenges to both individuals and countries. Recognizing the importance of preventive therapy, governments and healthcare sectors are increasingly focusing on raising awareness and implementing preventive measures. By shifting the focus towards preventive therapy and incorporating awareness and prevention in the healthcare sector, countries can potentially reduce the prevalence of obesity and chronic diseases. This, in turn, can lead to substantial cost savings by minimizing the need for expensive treatments and interventions. Moreover, preventive therapy can enhance labor productivity as healthier individuals are more likely to participate actively in the workforce and contribute to economic growth. By investing in preventive measures, countries can redirect resources towards other pressing healthcare needs and social development initiatives. Incorporating preventive measures into healthcare systems also requires collaboration among various stakeholders, including policymakers, healthcare professionals, community leaders, and the general public. Governments can play a pivotal role by implementing policies that support preventive therapy, such as subsidizing healthy food options, promoting physical education in schools, and incentivizing regular health check-ups. Additionally, healthcare providers should prioritize preventive care by integrating it into routine clinical practices, offering counseling services, and creating supportive environments for behavior change. #raisingawareness #preventivemedicine #behaviourchange #holisticapproach #healthcareeducation
