Diversity on boards encompasses more than just gender representation. Viewing diversity through the lens of different perspectives is essential for progress. HKEX currently has only 19% women board members, we cannot underestimate the importance of enhancing diversity at leadership levels. Embracing diversity not only fosters agility and resilience but also equips organizations to navigate change effectively and propel business growth. Thanks to The Women's Foundation for a great discussion. #Diversity #Leadership #BusinessGrowth #womantowatch

Women of color continue to be underrepresented in leadership roles across sectors. In a study published in January of this year, the effects of racial and gender biases that contribute to the consistent underrepresentation of minority women in leadership roles within American private, public, and third sector organizations are examined and scrutinized. The authors recognize the compounded biases that accompany the combination of gender and race, and emphasize that the double bind of facing discrimination due to their racial and gender identities underscores the resilience and determination of Black women leaders. Few attempts have been made to quantify racial bias and measure its impact on women leaders; this study does just that. When inclusion initiatives focus exclusively on hiring women to leadership positions, does this shift the burden of solving the equity issue onto the very people being hurt by the problem? Interesting piece on the role men need to play in fostering true inclusion for women: "You can hire your way to diversity, but you can’t hire your way to inclusion. Women's Leadership Coach & Speaker | Helping women in schools and non-profits to lead more confidently, authentically, and unapologetically.
Dear Women Leaders, Is this your experience? ⤵ We're not talking about the immense pressure of the WORK. We're talking about unnecessary, unwelcome, unfair expectations about how women should look and act. The threat of not complying is one of the reasons women DON'T show up authentically. ❓ Will I look insubordinate? ❓ Will I be passed over for promotion? ❓ Will I not seem like a team player? My professional experience and business are focused on the Independent School sector, but gender inequity in the leadership of public schools is remarkably similar. Women Leading Ed, led by Julia Rafal-Baer and Kyla Johnson-Trammell, is doing fantastic work collecting data and offering solutions to support gender equity. What are the men around you doing to confront their gender biases? How do we call men into this conversation to stop the discrimination? Sincerely, Your Leadership Coach #pleasantlyaggressive #schoolleadership #womeninleadership
