Global relationships are the foundation of economic growth and innovation. The recent Networking Reception of the Joint Legal Workshop, co-organised by The Hong Kong Department of Justice, the Korean Ministry of Justice, and Invest Hong Kong, is a testament to the benefits of such international collaborations. This event, which brought together over 150 participants from the Korean business sector and Hong Kong's legal practitioners, is the first of its kind since the signing of the Memorandum of Co-operation (MOU) on 25 September 2019, and underscores the deepening ties and enhanced cooperation between the regions. The strong economic relationship between Korea and Hong Kong is demonstrated by the presence of approximately 16,000 Koreans in Hong Kong and 146 Korean companies, including 21 financial institutions. With this not only strengthening bilateral trade, but also the overall economic landscape of the region, fostering a climate of mutual growth and prosperity. Hong Kong’s pivotal role in this relationship is strengthened by our unique legal system, which operates under the "one country, two systems" principle, and offers a legal framework characterised by an independent judiciary, business-friendly civil and commercial laws, and a wealth of legal professionals with international experience. This robust legal infrastructure supports comprehensive services, from setting up businesses to managing complex international transactions, making Hong Kong an ideal hub for business growth and development. We look forward to watching the further growth and success of Korean businesses in Hong Kong.
