It is truly remarkable to reflect on all the suffering and sacrifice that Jesus endured for the sake of humanity. His betrayal, flogging, and crucifixion were all necessary steps in fulfilling the ultimate plan of salvation for all of us. Through his death and resurrection, we are given the gift of eternal life, a promise that is both humbling and awe-inspiring. Let us never forget the immense love and grace that Jesus showed us through his actions on the cross. #newepisode #jolaspeakspodcast #explorepage

context. context. context. verse, chapter, book, bible. It matters!

Do you remember the Mizpah obsession people had years ago? The one where a couple would each have one half of a broken necklace with a heart and a quote of Genesis 31:49? The one I recall said, “The Lord watch between me and thee when we are apart one from another.” It was taken as a romantic quote between a woman and man who loved each other deeply, that God would protect them when they weren’t together. And this is one example of the danger of taking a singe verse out of context. In Genesis 31, Mizpah has nothing to do with love. No, Mizpah is a covenant, pretty much an uneasy peace treaty between a father-in-law and son-in-law who didn’t trust each other and for which there was deceit on both sides. Mizpah was, “God is watching, so don’t you dare mistreat my daughters!” And, “As God is our witness, I won’t cross the Mizpah line and attack you and you won’t cross the Mizpah line and attack me.” Feel free to read all of Genesis 31 and see for yourself. What’s my point? Don’t trust popular ideas about the Bible and what it means. Dig in and read it yourself. Check with reliable sources. And allow the Holy Spirit to confirm the word of God which you read. If you are so inclined, feel free to share this message. Know Who God Is We are God’s images; when God created us, he formed us in his own image, and he gave us sovereignty over the world, the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all crawling creatures in the world, and He loves us the most among all the creatures He has created. #Godimage #faith #hope click below to learn more 👇
