Do you ever compare yourself to others? It’s a common pitfall we can all fall into. Here’s something interesting I’d like to share:
When Ken Honda (Japan’s Money Guru) sat down to interview a multi-millionaire, he asked him how old he was when he started feeling wealthy. That multi-millionaire’s response?
“I don’t feel wealthy at all.”
Ken exclaimed, “But you have a public company with a thousand employees!”
The multi-millionaire responded, “But I don’t have a jet.”
Months later when Ken sat down with someone who owned his own jet, he again asked, how old were you when you started to feel wealthy?
The jet owners response?
“I’m not wealthy yet, my friend has a bigger jet.”
When he interviewed someone with a bigger jet and asked the same question, he was given the following response:
“I’m not wealthy yet, I don’t have my own hangar.”
This kept going…
And it will never end until you stop comparing yourself to others.
Comparison is the root of unhappiness.
Instead of looking at what other people have, I suggest taking a look at yourself and how far you’ve come. I bet one day long ago, you could have only dreamed to have something in your life that you are now currently taking for granted.
Find and feel that gratitude.
Keep your focus on your own lane. Keep asking yourself what you want that lane to look like and who you want allowed in that lane. Do what you need to make that lane the best lane possible for yourself, but stop caring what other people are doing in theirs.
This is a key step to happiness and fulfillment at any stage in life and within any career.
