Mental health is a crucial consideration, even within the film industry. Reflecting on the impact, especially a decade after Robin Williams' passing, I came across an article that resonated with me. Sharing this post for awareness and reflection. #filmindustry #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealth #robinwilliams #10years

1. Focus on Self-Compassion: - Treat yourself kindly and avoid self-criticism. Imagine speaking to yourself as you would to your best friend. - Celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small, and reward yourself for your efforts. 2. Set Healthy Boundaries: - Learn to say 'no' when necessary. Prioritize your own needs and energy levels. - Helping others is important, but ensure you have the capacity to do so without sacrificing your own well-being. 3. Plan Your Escape: - Take breaks from caregiving responsibilities. Spend time alone doing things you enjoy, like watching a movie or reading a book. - Remember, self-love isn't selfish—it's about recharging so you can be there for others. 4. Invest in Mental Health: - Consider booking a therapy session. A trusted therapist can help you improve your mental well-being and practice self-love effectively. 5. Connect with Nature and Loved Ones: - Spend time outdoors with family or friends. Fresh air and outdoor adventures can boost your mood. - Consider adopting a pet or volunteering with animals. Their unconditional love can be uplifting. 6. Create a Joyful Home Environment: - Fill your home with things that make you smile—plants, happy memories, or art you love. - Make your home a sanctuary where you feel safe and content.

Friday Fun! - You might not associate mental health WITH fun, but you should. Laughing can really lift and distract the mind when it is feeling low or anxious. It doesn't matter what, as long as it makes you laugh. If it is a real belly laugh, one you want to share with friends and family, even better. If we can laugh about some of the things in our week, or share a smile when talking about them, our mind will want more. The subconscious mind wants to keep you happy, so this will help form the habit of having fun! Have a great day and weekend. Make it fun and make it count. #FridayFeeling #Comedy #LaughterIsTheBestMedicine #Friends #PositiveAttitude #PositiveMindset #Wellness

There's something we need to talk about, and it's Liam Payne. By now, the whole world is aware of Liam's passing and how tragic it is. While we do not know the particulars surrounding his death, a bigger conversation needs to be had. Liam struggled immensely and openly with mental health issues, as well as substance abuse. Mental health is a huge topic in the entertainment industry, with many big names discussing the pressures and ease of falling into addiction. With the rise of mental health first aiders and awareness on how this industry can become the centre of our lives, it's important to talk about how we can keep our health in a place where we can continue our careers. Working in this industry means very limited sleep, high stress environments, expectations, constantly feeling the need to prove your worth, and being away from your loved ones for sometimes years at a time. Yes, we know this is what we have signed up for. But we need to find ways to make this viable. The night of Liam's passing, my mentor Callum and I had a big discussion about mental health, the loneliness of being on tour, and how social media is everyone posting about how well they are doing. While it may not be appropriate to post on a professional account that you are struggling, it is vital that we check in on each other. This is where I speak about a new petition calling for legislation to safeguard mental health in the entertainment industry. It's being tagged as 'Liam's Law'. The basis of this petition is to enact a law requiring adequate rest periods, the presence of mental health professionals on set and on tour, and regular mental health check ups. Recently, Chappell Roan said in a radio interview that if you don't look after your mental health, you will do really well in the industry. That is devastating when you really think about it. I personally have seen artists now question whether the 'dream' is worth sacrificing their life for. I hate to see that. Sharing your art with the world and working in a job that aids in sharing people's art, should not cost you your life or sanity. If there's any silver lining in the awful recent event, I hope that it's us looking more closely at how we can protect ourselves and each other. You can read more and sign the petition to push Liam's Law below. Rest in paradise Liam, may you find the peace you never felt here. https://lnkd.in/gu-jwKym

We know that rituals and a sense of normality are important for people after a major life event for example bereavement. This article suggests that rituals and routines can be helpful in the workplace supporting staff to be more confident and better manage setbacks. Perhaps that's something that we should consider bringing into our workplaces. Pre-event rituals for Parent's Evening or Results Days. Help us feel less stressed and less likely to catastrophise outcomes. Rituals can also build shared purpose. We feel it's worth some thought and in the Balanced Schools office we are thinking about what rituals we can introduce here. Just remember there is a difference between a reassuring ritual and a MUST DO ritual that is moving into Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Let us know your thoughts/rituals? https://buff.ly/4dngj42
