If you cant accept losing, you cant win - Vince Lombardi In the journey towards success, we must recognize that both victories and defeats are essential teachers. Each loss brings valuable lessons, fuels our determination, and strengthens our character. Embracing failure with grace and humility paves the way for ultimate triumph. Let us understand that losing doesn't define us, but how we respond to it does. So welcome the challenges, celebrate every achievement, and grow stronger through setbacks! This is the right mindset and attitude. Knowing that is the easy part. Actually implementing this way of thinking is so, so hard to do.

Something I didn't know I needed to hear... "Focus on Winning Today: Quit living in the past. How much you've won or lost up to this point is irrelevant. If you'd like to continue winning... Or if you want to stop losing… You have to show up and compete today. Then… Compete tomorrow. Compete next week. Compete next month. Compete every day 'til the day you die. Nobody cares that you were at the top of your class. Nobody cares that you won the championship game. Nobody cares that you were employee of the month. Nobody cares if you never did a damn thing before. It’s what you do from here that matters. Far too many lives are wasted reliving the glory days and wins from the past. As well as the devastating loses. Put your foot on the gas and focus on the actions you're taking to win today. That's the only thing that matters." -A. Frisella It's not that our past accomplishments don't matter. It's not that our past failures don't shape us. But I needed this reminder to bring one of my favorite quotes back to the forefront of my mind: "The past is history. The future a mystery. Today is a gift; that is why we call it the present."

That's progress! In 1954 Roger Bannister became the first person to run a mile in under four minutes. His time -- 3 minutes 59.4 seconds. When Bannister ran his historic race, I love how the stadium announcer added drama to the event by teasing the crowd by delaying his announcement of Bannister's race time for as long as possible: "Ladies and gentlemen, here is the result of event nine, the one mile: first, number forty one, R. G. Bannister, Amateur Athletic Association and formerly of Exeter and Merton Colleges, Oxford, with a time which is a new meeting and track record, and which—subject to ratification—will be a new English Native, British National, All-Comers, European, British Empire and World Record. The time was three..." The roar of the crowd drowned out the rest of the announcement! Interestingly, after all those years of runners attempting to run a sub four minute mile, Bannister's record stood for only 46 days before being broken by a runner named John Landy. But I think the most interesting part of the four minute mile story is that in 2023, there were 165 NCAA runners who ran sub four minute miles. That's progress! Business is the same as the runner's story. We need to learn more, be more efficient, and continue to do better, and be better, than we were the year before. And sometimes we need someone to show us what is possible! #leadership #progress

Wise words from Max Homa that can be applied to most everything.

Great training session with the team at Savola. A key takeaway for me was how all the best Managers I had in the past were ones who helped me mangage through my assignments at an emotional maturity /will and confidence level vs the actual skillset for the job. We often however look at skills and not enough at the emotional management aspect of leadership.
