Donating salvageable items offsets the amount of waste going to landfills by repurposing viable elements for adaptive reuse. When exploring ways to save money on the job site or to donate to your community, Habitat for Humanity ReStores can be highlighted. Have you or your business considered the benefits of reclaimed materials for your current project(s)?

Read on for a compelling message from the small but mighty non-profit ReClaim It. They work tirelessly to divert waste from our landfills and literally turn trash into treasure. Consider donating to their great work and have your donation matched dollar for dollar: https://lnkd.in/gtqgYSXP 🙌 "Last week someone broke into our store in the dead of night with a crowbar—destroying the front door. They stole the safe, which was bolted to the floor, but left everything else. Even though we say everything that comes back from the dump is a treasure, honestly, we don’t have much of value. We’re a scrappy nonprofit that works with limited resources & makes do with what comes to us. Our technology is outdated. The space is cramped. The plumbing is leaking. The windows are thin. The heating & air conditioning escape out the windows & doors faster than you can blink. Some customers complain about how expensive things may be getting & others say we undervalue the work we put into things. And still our dedicated staff & volunteers show up each week to wipe the pigeon poop off that discarded side table we saved from the dump & put a new coat of paint on. It’s not pretty or easy work, but we do it in the hope that each day more people will see value in the things that are being thrown away. We live in such a beautiful natural world that is being utterly inundated with trash. We need to slow down. Take a look at the beauty in the things we already own. Learn new skills to fix them as they age. Think creatively about how to reuse them if they’re beyond repair. Help one another by sharing our knowledge & resources. Coincidentally, we are doing a soft fundraising campaign for the month of August, so this feels like a weird coincidence. Here we are asking for help when instead we had things taken away. Are we upset? Sure. But it’s only fired up our determination even more to see this nonprofit thrive. I still can’t quite believe it, but a very generous donor has agreed to match up to $10,000 of any donations this month. Take a moment to let that sink in. We are floored by their offer, but can’t do it without you. Any support you can offer— even $5—would help us be more secure as an organization. This break-in may be a setback, but it doesn’t diminish our determination to keep growing as an organization. We have so much to look forward to this year!"

Happy Earth Day 2024! 🌎💚 Let's take a moment to reflect on the impact we have on OUR planet. 🌿 Have YOU ever really looked at the amount of garbage YOU contribute on a daily/weekly basis? It's a tough pill to swallow. I have to face this too. We compost, recycle, reuse bags and donate more than we toss in the landfill. STILL, I want to do better! Less shipped items. Together we can all make a difference. 🙌 This week, take a closer look at your own habits and choose one room to declutter. 🧹 Gather all the things you no longer want or need and instead of tossing them in the landfill, let's give them a new home through donation, free or gifting. 💚 Small actions like this can have a huge impact on our environment for future generations. Give MAMA EARTH some LOVIN' and take care of her the way she takes care of us. 🌍 #EarthDay #EarthDay2024 #HomeCoachHoff #compassionatedecluttering #declutter #decluttercoach #loveyourhome #loveyourself #organizingcoach #savetheplanet

Give your unwanted furniture & appliances a second life with KFR! 🛋️♻️ Did you recently replace furniture or appliances and are unsure what to do with the old ones? Instead of sending them to landfill, why not give them a new home and help those in need? Here’s how you can help: 👉Take a pic of your unwanted items and send it to us to see if we can use them. 👉You can then deliver directly to us, or we can arrange a free-of-charge collection. 👉Alternatively, leave them at a household recycling centre—just ask the staff where the reuse items are being kept. By donating your items, you help KFR provide essential goods free of charge to individuals and families in crisis across Wiltshire and affordable furniture for all. Let’s work together to reduce waste and support our community! Instead of wasting away in a landfill, more than seven tons of material, including unneeded and expired medical supplies, were whisked away from ChristianaCare’s Newark campus this past year, then donated to groups that use them with purpose. The efforts also have helped ChristianaCare significantly reduce its contribution to health care pollution. During the past year, ChristianaCare’s Landfill Diversion Project has prevented 10,530 pounds of usable items – about the weight of an ambulance — from entering the landfill. Did you know Electronic waste (e-waste) is the fastest growing solid waste stream in the world, increasing 3 times faster than the world’s population? Although e-waste makes up just 2% of what’s goes to our landfills, it accounts for 70% of the toxins leaching out into the environment. Only 22% of e-waste is recycled; however, e-waste streams contain valuable and finite resources that can be reused if they are recycled appropriately. Consider a gift to our #EarthMonth fundraising campaign to support e-waste recycling - learn more: https://lnkd.in/g4UK9da9 #ewaste #recycle #savetheearth #sandiego #encinitas #solanacenter #donate #donation #fundraising #nonprofit
