🚶🏿♀️Walked 5000 steps ...
...but it was more than just physical movement.
Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to facilitate a full-day workshop outside of Kigali. It was a rare chance to step away from my usual routine and connect with participants face-to-face.
As someone who typically works from home, I relished the chance to engage with 50 enthusiastic Jasiri4Africa fellows eager to learn about navigating difficult conversations, particularly in the context of finding a co-founder and team-building.
But what surprised me the most wasn't just the content we covered or the energy in the room—it was the realization of how much ground we covered, quite literally.
Throughout the day, I tracked my steps, and by the end, I had walked over 5000 steps! And let me tell you, it wasn't just pacing back and forth. We had interactive activities and role-playing sessions and even took breaks to soak in the beautiful Rwanda air.
This experience reminded me of the power of human connection and the energy that comes from being in the same physical space.
Despite the challenges and uncertainties of the past year, moments like these reaffirm my belief in the value of well-structured in-person interactions.
But more than the steps I took, the participant feedback truly made my day. 42 out of the 50 fellows left a comment.
Here are just a few snippets of what they shared:
► "Akua [is] the best speaker I have ever experienced. She is knowledgeable and the use of technology...enabling us to engage was awesome. Kudos and all the best to her."
► "It was mentally exciting to learn more about myself and relationship management. I can handle difficult conversations more confidently now."
► "I love the fact that she was practical and shared many case scenarios for us to understand the framework better..."
► "To the event organizer - thank you for bringing her. I think she really did a good job, and it was very enlightening. To Akua - I had a lovely day and your session was amazing, you really did a great job."
► "Honestly, everything was perfect. The execution and delivery [were] very well done."
► "Good Job on the group discussions. I loved that the example[s and that they] were related to the Residential intensive. I love that I can also apply them in real life. Quite practical!"
These words remind me why I do what I do and the impact it can have on others. I am grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn, and grow together. Thank you, Isidore Iradukunda, PMP & Aline Kabanda, and Chidi Afulezi, for recommending me.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead!
