7 of Ipswich's match day squad Saturday were playing in League 1 with them 2 years ago... Just let that sink in a bit. Yes, there's an element that there hasn't been a chance for a full squad overhaul. And yes, many of those players won't make it past this year, especially if they stay up. But in a time where Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have bought full new squads in one window over the previous years, the trust in the players is refreshing. It also points to a high level of player development and recruitment within the club. A measured approach to getting the right players, for the right system, at the right time. At Playermaker, we want to support clubs develop those metrics, benchmarks and KPIs to add a quantifiable element to long term player development and enhancement of tactical cohesion. In first team football, we want to see how we can integrate in your clubs specific coaching systems and bring additional value to your coaches practice. Let's have a chat! #football #soccer #development

Is Street Football Dying Out? A Reflection on Community and Creativity in the Modern Game. When we think back to our childhoods, the sound of a ball ricocheting off a brick wall and the shouts of "Next goal wins!" are as vivid as ever. Street football wasn't just a pastime; it was a crucible of creativity, resilience, and camaraderie. No rules, no referees, just raw passion and pure love for the game. But today, we can't help but notice how rare it is to see kids playing football in the streets or at the local park. The rise of structured academies, the pull of digital screens, and even concerns over safety have all contributed to this shift. The unfiltered essence of the game—the unpredictable moments that breed ingenuity—seems to be fading away. Street football taught us life skills: adaptability, teamwork, and the ability to handle challenges with grace (or at least try!). It was where talent often first emerged, and where a love for the sport took root. Icons of the game like Pelé, Maradona, and even Rooney honed their skills in the streets before gracing the world’s biggest stages. As we celebrate the growth of organised football, we must also ask ourselves: how can we keep the spirit of street football alive? Perhaps it's about creating more open spaces, encouraging free play, or simply allowing kids the freedom to just play. After all, football is as much about the joy of the game as it is about competition. What are your thoughts? Have you noticed this change too? How can we reclaim the essence of the beautiful game in our neighbourhoods? #football #streetfootball #streetsoccer #skills #soccer
