🚨🚨🚨 The famous (or infamous) RockYou wordlist was recently refreshed and now contains almost 10 billion passwords. The rockyou2024 archive is 45GB, so if you are a cybersecurity professional interested in checking out this new wordlist, we recommend having a look at it. We know there is a lot of data in there, but it is still more practical that the Mother of All Breaches (MOAB) which contained over 10TB of data. Many threat actors can afford hardware which may facilitate the usage of rockyou2024. Add a good password cracking rule such as OneRuleToRuleThemAll and you get a password-cracking and bruteforcing behemoth. This being said, we recommend: 1) Making sure to utilize a password manager to store (and generate) passwords. If you are able to remember your password, it is probably not complex enough 2) Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) wherever possible 3) Check if your password has been involved in a known breach on haveibeenpwned.com.
