Airbus is emphasizing the similarity of the A350F with the A350-1000 passenger model as it gets ready to launch the aircraft in 2026. Airbus aims to enter the freighters market with the A350F. Asia will become a key market for freighters. The A330 market will completely move to passenger-to-freighter conversions due to the lower capital costs and higher availability of feedstock as more passenger planes are phased out in the next few years. Airbus boosted the maximum payload of the A350-1000F from 109 to 111 tons last year, which resulted in a slight decrease of range from 4,700 nm to 4,550 nm. To make the A350F more efficient, the plane’s main hatch will be located just behind the wings to maintain the aircraft’s balance during loading. Airbus is also planning to use a customized version of the standard Rolls Royce engines for improved performance. Currently, the airline industry is experiencing a significant trend towards more freighter solutions to meet the increasing demand for air cargo capacity. Many supply chains are still affected by the pandemic and its consequences, so that many components for essential industries are still transported by air. With the lack of capacities from Russian airlines and the additional disruption or cancellation of flights, the Russian invasion of Ukraine has greatly reduced global airfreight capacity as well. Moreover, the recent rise in e-commerce is driving capacity demand even higher. The rapid growth in airfreight capacity is further boosted by sea carriers such as A.P. Moller - Maersk and CMA CGM, who have bought huge numbers of freighters and will have large fleets in the coming years. Even smaller airlines depend on the acquisition of new freighters. #aircraft #freighter #airbus #strategy #technology #aerospace (Image Source: Airbus)

Emirates has managed to complete cabin retrofits – including installation of all-new premium economy cabins – for at least 20 of its A380s out of a total of 67 scheduled to receive the upgrade, Cirium's recently-launched Ground Events Analytics module shows. Detailing its plans for one of the industry's biggest ever retrofit programmes in a 1st November 2022 press release, the carrier said it aimed to induct one aircraft every eight days with each upgrade taking approximately 16 days to complete, meaning all 67 A380s would be modified and returned to service by the end of May this year. Ground Events Analytics reveals that seven of the 20 aircraft confirmed to have been upgraded to date also underwent 'C' or 'heavy' maintenance checks during their ground stays. The shortest tracked ground time to date was aircraft A6-EVF – which received a cabin retrofit only starting in mid-May 2023 – at 23 days. Aircraft A6-EUI is the latest to be inducted, having been on the ground in Dubai for just over three weeks so far, and Cirium is monitoring the status of several more aircraft that have recently begun extended ground stays. #cirium #aerospace #aircraftmaintenance #aircraftinteriors

Ever wonder how airplanes section or big parts of Airbus are transported for assemble? It is thru this strange airplane, called Beluga. Beluga - large white sturgeon fish. Met my friend from ATI (Airbus Transport International). We talked about inventory and supply chain of airplane's parts. The most crucial element in MRO. ATI operates their Beluga as the same as other airline does, 10 destinations in europe and 1 in Ankara (for Turkish Aerospace), actively delivering airplanes sections. Those airports are airbus plants which produce airplanes fuselage or sections. The Beluga is built base on Airbus 330, having 40% more volume space, longer range capability, 10 tonnes more payload. Fun fact: Türkiye is the 3rd largest Airbus market in Europe with more than 340 Airbus passenger and freighter aircraft in service with 8 operators. #airbus #beluga #ati #transport #france #europe #aviation #aircraft #airplane

The current time of year (around China's Golden Week) is usually the last opportunity before peak season to get freighter maintenance in. This year seems no exception, with Rotate's Live Capacity data (which shows both aircraft flying but also - indirectly - those not flying) showing that ~10% of the global large widebody freighter fleet (which totals around 600) is currently parked temporarily, in particular at Asian airports.
