Driving Steel Industry Success through Quality, Safety, and Operational Excellence.

"The Legacy of Brightside and Stelco" In May 1910, visionary land developer W.D. Flatt embarked on an ambitious project, filing Survey 453 with plans to cultivate the Brightside neighborhood along the bustling industrial waterfront of Hamilton. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in urban development, intertwining the fate of this promising neighborhood with the industrial expansion of the era. Just a month later, in June 1910, a pivotal moment in Canadian industry unfolded as various small enterprises merged, giving rise to the Steel Company of Canada, known as Stelco. This amalgamation heralded the birth of Canada's largest steel producer of the 20th century, setting the stage for monumental growth and innovation in the steel industry. The story of Brightside is a testament to the profound impact of industrial giants like Stelco on the communities that grow in their shadows. The neighborhood thrived, its fortunes closely linked to the ebbs and flows of Stelco's success, until its ultimate decline in 1968. This historical narrative reminds us of the intricate relationship between industrial development and urban growth. As we reflect on the legacy of Brightside and Stelco, let's engage in thoughtful discussions on sustainable development and the importance of balancing industrial progress with community well-being. #History #IndustrialHeritage #UrbanDevelopment #Stelco #Hamilton #CanadianIndustry

Four generations of my family have now worked for Stelco. Would be need to have an old home in the area turned into a Brightside museum. I had never heard of 'Brightside' as a neighbkurhood until a few years back. It's fun following the Facebook page.
