The United Nations #PactForTheFuture was finalised over the weekend — what does this mean for killer robots? ✅🗳️ The Pact aims to provide an ambitious, action-oriented vision for a more peaceful world and included a section on #AutonomousWeapons. The Pact directed states to “advance with urgency” discussions on autonomous weapons – demonstrating that killer robots are a global challenge and addressing the risks they raise is a priority for the international community. 🔜 The next step is clear: states must move to launch negotiations on a legally binding instrument on autonomous weapons , to prevent the automation of killing and to ensure meaningful human control over the use of force.
