Just two days ago EU Comission published the web-based report REPowerEU- 2 years on. We have to keep moving! It is like the sentece attributed to Albert Einstein: “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving." To date, the EU has successfully met most of the ambitious targets set in the REPowerEU Plan and is on good track to achieve the medium to longer-term objectives. Over the past 2 years, the REPowerEU Plan has helped the EU save energy, diversify its supplies, produce clean energy and smartly combine investments and reforms. EU has to keep moving, not only to fulfil the targets but also to keep the balance, the energy and environmental balance. #EU #repowereu #energy #renewable #renewableenergy #Eucomission https://lnkd.in/dKun-QYm

🚨 Germany's Far-Right AfD Party Proposes Major Policy Shifts 🚨 The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is making headlines with its bold policy proposals that could reshape Germany's energy landscape and its relationship with the European Union. Key among these proposals is a commitment to part ways with the EU's Paris Agreement and to loosen sanctions against Russia ❗ The AfD advocates for increased imports of natural gas from Russia, particularly through the Nord Stream pipeline. This shift raises critical questions about the future of renewable energy in Germany and across Europe. By prioritizing natural gas imports, the AfD's policies could divert attention and resources away from renewable energy initiatives, potentially slowing down the transition to a more sustainable energy system. How might this affect investments in green energy solutions and the overall commitment to achieving climate goals ⁉️ What are your thoughts on the AfD's proposals and their potential impact on the renewable energy landscape? 💬🌍 *Below is an AI generated photo of Germany as a Renewable Energy haven 😃 #EnergyPolicy #RenewableEnergy #Germany #ClimateChange #Sustainability Source: https://lnkd.in/eqWwj9-c

While Poland welcomed the development as a step forward for Europe’s energy independence, Slovakia strongly criticised it. The European Commission downplayed the significance of the supply cutoff, saying contingency plans have been in place for over a year

The number one political priority of Europeans right now? The cost of living crisis 🌞 A direct, practical way to address it? Producing one's own energy - and what better way to do that than through local energy sharing projects & energy communities. REScoop.eu, together with members of our network from Hungary, Czechia, and Estonia, issue a rallying call to policymakers in light of the #EuElections2024 -> local, clean energy projects should be accessible to all. 🔍 The Electricity Law Referendum: A Win for Wind Energy in Switzerland🌬️ I’m pleased to share that the recent referendum on the new electricity law in Switzerland resulted in a decisive YES! One remarkable aspect of this campaign was the support the law gained from environmental organizations that have historically been opposed to wind energy in Switzerland. This shift highlights a growing recognition of the importance of sustainable energy solutions. Campaign Highlights: -Supporters: primarily used a unified image to promote the law, without focusing on wind energy visuals. -Opponents: frequently featured visuals of wind turbines or images from local bird organizations showing birds and their habitats threatened by wind park constructions. These conflicting strategies reflect the complex emotional and visual framing of the wind energy debate in Switzerland. Thank you for joining me in this series of posts exploring the dynamics of wind energy communication in Switzerland. 10moInteresting fact from the report focused in Spain: although renewables represent around 43% of the electrical mix, they are only 17% of the final energy consumption mix. 70% of this mix still comes from fossil fuels (data from 2022). Indeed there are plenty of reasons to keep moving.
