As the world changes around us, so does the visual communication of brands. This is a necessary process because, without it, the brand image becomes outdated and loses its primary function: to be appealing. But what are the rules of a brand’s visual identity evolution? Are there any rules at all? We can build a new brand image from scratch, but we can also start from an existing concept. The steps of brand design apply in both cases. You have 7 seconds to make a first impression. 7 seconds to make potential customers 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂, and 𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂. That's why visual branding is so important. It's not just about having a pretty logo or website. It's about creating an image that speaks to your audience and represents who you are as a business. Think about it: ❌ McDonald's doesn't use purple in their branding ❌ Coca-Cola doesn't use a serif font ❌ Nike doesn't use a cartoonish logo Why? Because their visual branding represents their 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 and 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 to their target audience. So, take a look at your visual branding. Does it represent your 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀? Does it speak to your 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? If not, it's time to make a change.

"I am bored with my branding.... Should I rebrand?" Visual branding is all about staying consistent. Changing your visuals such as; • Logo • Fonts • Colours • And other brand assets Every few weeks/ months can be damaging to your business... It can lead to; ❌ Confused customers Confusion creates disconnect between your business and the user. ❌ Lack of recognition Brand recognition takes time, often changed visuals will slow this down. ❌ Trust issues It can raise concerns about the stability and reliability of your business. Regular changes lead to regular inconsistencies. Making it difficult for customers to identify and connect with your brand. In return consistent visual identity fosters recognition and trust. So before you start thinking about rebranding once again... Ask yourself "Why am I rebranding?"; ❓Are you changing your offer/s? ❓Does your branding feel outdated? ❓How consist is your branding across all touch points? ❓Has there been a shift in the audience you are addressing? ❓Is there a need for you to stand out from your competition? ❓How is the current brand perceived by your target audience? ❓Will the new visuals be adaptable to future changes and growth? ❓Are there discrepancies in messaging, visuals, or customer experience? If one or more of these don't apply to you, steer away from the urge to rebrand just because you feel like it. Remember visual branding isn't about you. It is about forming meaningful and lasting relationship with your audience and customer. --- P.S How do you feel about brands that frequently change their visuals?
