I saw this post and wondered when was the last time I actually told someone they did a great job. I try to do so often and give constructive feedback with integrity, when there’s an opportunity for improvement.
I think lately I’ve forgotten to mention when people have done a good job, that I’m grateful for all work that goes into delivering a quality product, service or presentation.
People sometimes sacrifice their sleep, family time, build three to four drafts before they hand in a final product.
I am encouraging us as we go through this last month of the year, let’s strengthen our muscle of gratitude.
Look for opportunities to let people know you appreciate the work they do, their level of work ethic and the sacrifices they may have made to deliver for you and your organization.
If there’s is an opportunity for development or improvement, provide feedback with integrity.
I’ve seen feedback done in a way in which it causes the person receiving to feel like a failure. There is a process of development to get from a current to desired state. We as leaders play a huge role in this process.
It cost nothing to tell someone who is doing a great job, “You did a great job.” But the return on that investment is immeasurable.
