We finally get the date for the next Xbox Games Showcase! 2 days after Geoff Keighley returns for his 4th Summer Games Fest, Xbox once again draw back the curtains for some of their biggest announcements for the rest of the 2024 calendar. Take it back to last year, Xbox started strongly with Richard Ayoade playing Dave the Giant for the announcement of the Fable Remake (Playground Games - Forza Series) and then turned towards a new announcement with South of Midnight (Compulsion). Overall, it was a huge night for Xbox last year, showing off some huge works in developments, especially around the Sega Family with Yakuza 8 (RGG Studios), Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica (Atlus). Xbox decided to wrap up the Showcase with the Starfield Direct show right after, taking a look into what was called the “Greatest RPG Game” before launch (pun not intended). This year, there’s a lot to look forward to and a lot to predict as well. With Microsoft landing so many new partners as well as the first showcase since the acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, there might be some new things to look forward to from all different studios. Microsoft have also announced a “Redacted” Direct for a game, which most certainly looks like the new Call of Duty: Gulf War which will need to impress after the disappointing launch of Modern Warfare 3. It could also mean a new journey in the Forza Horizon series after its 3 year gap between releases has come around again, with Playground Games possibly taking the Horizon Festival elsewhere in the world. The showcase might also bring new gameplay with it too! Arkane Lyon’s “Blade” was announced during The Game Awards last winter and hasn’t seen much action since, but with Arkane Lyon’s success in “Deathloop”, it might only be the start of a lot of anticipation for Marvel fans. I could go on and on about all these different predictions and what I’d love to see come to fruition during the showcase, and I’m sure there’s a lot. For now though, we’ll have to wait until June 9th for some type of news.

TL;DR: Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has confirmed that four previously exclusive Xbox titles will be released on competing consoles like PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. This move is not a complete change in Xbox's exclusivity strategy but aims to expand the games' reach. Xbox also plans to integrate cross-play and cross-save functionalities. Game Pass will remain exclusive to Xbox, but titles from Activision Blizzard will be added to the subscription service. Xbox's approach shows a balance between maintaining a unique ecosystem and embracing cross-platform availability. #XboxExclusive #CrossPlatform #GameRelease #GamingCommunity #XboxStrategy #Gaming #UncrownedGaming

Call of Duty is now on Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft's gaming subscription service. This was inevitable following the Activision Blizzard King acquisition. Coupling the addition of Call of Duty with a recent subscription price hike and changed content offering for Game Pass' base tier, the Federal Trade Commission submitted a new filing to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit alleging improper conduct on Microsoft's part. Microsoft responded by saying the FTC's claims of "degraded service" post-acquisition are misleading. Call of Duty is one of the highest grossing game franchises with $30B+ in lifetime revenue across all installments. CoD: Modern Warfare III - the version now on Game Pass - was the second best-selling premium game for all of 2023, despite only launching in November. Microsoft hopes Call of Duty will be a big driver of Game Pass growth, even as the game remains available on Sony and potentially even Nintendo platforms. This launch marks a major milestone in the Game Pass strategy. #gaming #subscription #callofduty #entertainment #videogames

Xbox Game Pass prices are increasing, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate rising to $19.99/month and a new Xbox Game Pass Standard at $14.99/month, which lacks day-one releases, EA Play, and cloud gaming. Pricing changes take effect for new members on July 10, 2024, and for existing members on September 12, 2024. PC Game Pass will increase to $11.99/month, and the yearly Xbox Game Pass Core will rise to $74.99. The changes reduce the overall value of the service, likely influenced by Microsoft's Activision Blizzard acquisition and a focus on cost-cutting.
