Internal Financial Control Services - Controller Striving to be a servant leader, better husband, better father, and better friend.

I am an Alabama fan. I grew up just north of Tuscaloosa. I am an alumni and my oldest son will be an alumni soon. I am not sure how I missed the fact that Nick Saban the goat of college football is a reader of Charles Koch’s books but it makes sense to me. He is all about the process and making people around him better. I love the fact that my company Georgia-Pacific and Koch industries philosophy is intertwined with the philosophy of my favorite team. It just reinforces wonderful philosophies that I believe can change the world to be a better place. If you want to build a great team: 1. Create an objective of what you want to accomplish and make sure the team is connected to that objective in a real and personal way. 2. Educate, onboard, and train the team so they have the ability to be great. 3. Hold the team accountable to the work. 4. Trust but verify. If the work is important show that to the team by asking questions, offering solutions, and inspecting the work for completion and quality. And by the way, Roll Tide! https://lnkd.in/gsWMKS_e

Joseph Jennings I agree with you. All four points make for a great team. "Good profit", "The Science of Success", and "Believe in People" are all good books I've read probably more than once. The principles you learn from the readings, along with working at GP and Koch are life changing and touch every aspect of how we show up, work with each other, and get things done. I love that the philosophies embrace inclusion allowing everyone to add to creating value. I am grateful to have had the opportunity and experience to work with you at GP, and visit Koch industries to take part in Koch University, while embracing principle based management. Miss you guy's over there at GP and Koch! Roll Tide!

Great leaders create or support the development of other great leaders. 3 former assistants led or will lead a top 10 team this year. How many coaches can say that in history? In two of those cases, he saved the careers of each one.
