Day 11 of #ITAdvent. Well, there are strong opinions on New #Outlook! Especially about changing the default #Microsoft365 client this January for Business users & in 2026 for Enterprise orgs which I posted about on day 9. While I also think that New #Outlook might not be ready for most orgs, there are also some misconceptions surrounding this switch. First: #Microsoft will support Classic until at least 2029. See: https://lnkd.in/e78r_gfu Second: you can block the switch. And third:... You can run New and Classic #Outlook concurrently side-by-side on the same device! No need to toggle on/off every time. Read how to achieve this here: https://lnkd.in/e_BT5qQk #SimplifyNow #Adoption

This has to be one of my new favourite (and free) M365 tools. Running a small business means juggling a lot of moving parts, and Microsoft Loop has quickly become a tool I rely on. It’s helped me keep track of projects, share ideas with my team, and stay organised, all in one place. The real-time updates mean I can see progress as it happens, and the flexibility allows us to adapt as things change—especially useful when managing multiple clients with different needs. It’s taken a bit of the chaos out of my day-to-day, which I’m definitely grateful for! #SmallBusinessLife #MicrosoftLoop #Productivity

The Horror that’s Teams 🧑🤝🧑 😱 Well, I’m not talking about your colleagues and team-mates you work with, hopefully well and efficiently. I’m talking about Microsoft Teams, the scariest of all monsters in the ghost train of corporate software. Every now and then, Mainmatter works with clients that use #teams so we have to use it as well for those projects. I’m staggered every time by how objectively bad Teams is. It’s laggy, confusing, the editing experience is way worse than what any of the competitors offer, and you end up being logged out (possibly without noticing) constantly. This might all be slightly better on Windows but I doubt it’s an order-of-magnitude kind of difference to the experience on macOS. I understand Teams is pushed on companies that have MS licenses already so doesn’t (seem to) cost much at all but I wonder whether people take into account the implicit cost – loss of productivity, scaring top talent away, or people just being frustrated with their tools, leading to worse productivity? I did an (absolutely non-scientific) poll a few months ago asking people whether they’d rather join a company that uses Slack or one that has Teams, assuming otherwise equivalent offers – the result was as clear as it wasn’t surprising. What does everyone think? Does Teams come with implicit costs? Am I wrong and it’s actually great?
