Unhindered Prayer Series: Experiencing God in Every Moment Day 5: Are We Listening to God? Do you take time to listen after you pray? Proverbs 1:5 advises, "Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance." Prayer is a two-way conversation with God. Imagine having a conversation with a friend where you do all the talking and never listen. It wouldn't be very fulfilling, would it? The same applies to our prayer life. We need to pause and listen for God's voice and guidance. Consider the story of young Samuel in the Bible. One night, he heard a voice calling his name. Initially, he thought it was Eli, the priest. But Eli realized it was God calling Samuel and told him to respond, "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening" (1 Samuel 3:9). Samuel’s willingness to listen allowed him to receive God’s guidance and become a great prophet. Another example is Maria, who would always pray fervently about her life's decisions but never took the time to listen. She often felt confused and unsure despite her prayers. One day, she decided to change her approach. After praying, she would sit quietly, journal, and wait for God's direction. Over time, Maria began to sense clear guidance and peace about her decisions. By listening, she was able to follow God's will more closely. Today, after you pray, take a moment to be still and listen. You might be surprised at what God wants to share with you. Maybe it’s a whisper in your heart, a scripture that comes to mind, or a sense of peace guiding your decisions. Reflect on your prayer routine. Do you make space for listening? Incorporating quiet moments to hear God’s voice can transform your prayer life and deepen your relationship with Him. Remember, effective communication involves both speaking and listening. The Bible tells us that there are several kinds of prayer, and you need to learn to use every kind of prayer that’s available to you. — Rick Renner

Prayer continua; Vitória é certa❗ Eph 3:20 "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us," ▪︎ Our thoughts are as powerful and effective as our prayers. ▪︎ Thoughts generate same results as prayer. ▪︎ Pro 23:7 "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he..." ▪︎ We have been taught about prayers and how to pray, so we pray. ▪︎ Since there's prayer that moves the mountain, there should the thoughts that move the mountain as well. ▪︎ The critical issue is that prayers are fired in the direction of expected results. Thoughts are not necessarily so. ▪︎ Unguided thoughts of bitterness, anger, resentments, fueled by hatred, greed, selfishness etc will produce terrible results. ▪︎ So, most times, there's conflicts between what we're praying and what we're thinking. ▪︎ Thought patterns should inform Prayer. Prayer in turn should empower thought patterns. ▪︎ Thoughts patterns are products of Values. Values are things that are very important to us. ▪︎ Values are products of belief systems. ▪︎ You see, nothing means nothing except the meaning you give to it. ▪︎ Beliefs are products of our backgrounds. Thoughts are not on the surface. ▪︎ The Bible instructs us in Proverbs 4:23 to "Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." ▪︎ So, here's the work: we must keep our thoughts pure by guarding it with the word of God (Psalm 119:9). ▪︎ Proverbs 28:9 "The one who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination." ▪︎ If our prayers will not be abomination, then our thoughts must align with God's word. ▪︎ It is therefore not how loud or how long our prayers are but how pure our thoughts are. ▪︎ Pure thoughts on the altar of prayer will produce great results. ▪︎ What I say to all, I say to myself: Guard your thoughts with God's word and let that move your mouth in prayers. PRAYER – SETTING THE ATMOSPHERE OF YOUR LIFE Confess to one another, therefore, your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offences, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. - James 5:16(AMP) ______ If you are a man or woman of the spirit, you can sense a Christian who does not pray. The dryness of their spiritual atmosphere is almost tangible. Such dryness provides a good abode for demons in search of a place of rest. As you well know, unclean spirits make a habit of walking through dry places seeking rest (Matthew 12:43). One of the benefits of prayer is that demons hate to linger around praying men and women. They cannot stand an atmosphere that is continually charged with divine energy. As such, consistent prayer must become a part of your life and not merely a desire. You must stop admiring people of prayer and become a lover of the presence of God. CULTIVATE A LIFESTYLE OF PRAYER. It will launch you into a unique atmosphere saturated by God's power and grace.
