Nokian Tyres has published its Sustainability Report 2023. This document, which has been prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards and is assured by an independent third party, describes Nokian Tyres’ sustainability actions and results in 2023 in terms of product liability and safety as well as environmental and social responsibility. A key achievement in 2023 was the gaining of “several excellent external sustainability ratings” such as inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index, platinum medal from EcoVadis, an AAA rating from MSCI, and a leadership-level score of A- on the CDP Climate report. The Report also looks at the company’s commitment to achieve science-based net-zero emissions by 2050. When discussions veer into the realm of sustainable sourcing, ESGs, and the like, my dad emphatically asserts that these concepts aren't newfound revelations. He's been championing these causes for decades. However, what brings a smile to his face is the growing awareness and commitment individuals and companies now exhibit towards these crucial issues. In our recent conversation, we delved into some key aspects that he believes should be at the forefront of our minds throughout this year. FSC's vision is to ensure that the world's forests meet the social, ecological and economic rights and needs of contemporary people without compromising the rights and interests of future generations. Why do brands want to have the FSC logo on their packaging? The FSC certification logo is a globally valid and highly recognized certification by consumers. Products with the FSC logo can provide consumers with a way to trace the "source" of all wood or fiber components, making the sustainable management activities of forest management or recycling operations from collection to reuse transparent and open to the public. Choosing FSC certified paper and insisting on using FSC certified paper is the main way to ensure that brands are in line with today's social values, and is an action plan to protect the world's precious forest land, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to a sustainable global economy. FSC certification types 1. Forest Management Certification (FSC FM) Applicable to certification of forest managers or forest owners. Forest management activities must be managed and managed responsibly in accordance with the requirements of the FSC Forest Management Standard. 2.
