When we bought our EV a few years ago, I remember checking the price of used vehicles and being shocked at how expensive they were. There was very little difference between the cost of something new and something gently or even moderately used, and with subsidies being as good as they were at the time, it really didn't make much sense to buy a used vehicle, even if I would have preferred it. Now, the price of used EVs is falling quite a lot, seemingly at least in part because drivers don't feel secure buying a used EV. I've had a few conversations with people who've been waiting for this moment. I think it's going to be an exciting time for a decent number of people who like buying used vehicles and were locked out of the EV world because of the high upfront cost. And for other people who maybe aren't sure, with costs falling as much as they are, I suspect we'll begin to see more folks test the waters. People might have their misgivings about range or recharge times or a number of other things, but a deal is a deal. #cars #electricvehicles #emobility

This is a great article and guide if you or a friend or family member are considering a #used #EV as your next car. It provides some great tips, what to look out for and questions to ask the salesperson. It also poses some sensible questions to ask yourself before parting with your hard earned cash. With many 3-4 year old, 200+ mile range EVs sitting at price parity with their #ICE equivalents, there has never been a better time to make the switch to a more #sustainable mode of #transport and to reap the benefits of lower running costs. https://lnkd.in/er-P7Bpk

On one Upper West Side side street, you can hear the quiet hum of electric vehicles almost all day and night. Catherine Boudreau reports: Manhattan isn't known for its plentiful parking. But this street has something even rarer: two public spots reserved for EV charging. Often, vehicles linger for hours. On a recent weekday, one licensed ride-hailing driver had been charging for more than 12 hours. Another EV sat for more than five hours at the neighboring plug. For the ride-hailing driver, that's 12 hours they didn't work. For other EV owners, it's one less charger to plug in to. A Tesla slowed as it drove by in hopes the spaces weren't occupied. Business Insider reports on New York City's aim to convert almost its entire ride-hailing industry to EVs by 2030.

It's World EV Day.... in fact the 5th of the annually observed days arbitrarily allocated as the time to pay a little more attention to battery-powered conveyances. It's sometimes worthwhile to look back over those five years and how far electrically powered vehicles have come in that time. No longer are they somewhat niche, somewhat expensive and somewhat impractical toys on the fringes of motoring. EV's are solidly embedded in the mainstream now. Over the last five years we've seen the release of the Jaguar i-Pace - the first EV to win the prestigious WhatCar Car of The Year Award and arguably one of the first 'real-world' usable electric cars with a range of over 300 miles. We've seen electric vehicles start to exceed the distance their petrol powered equivalents can travel on a full tank (The Mercedes EQS with over 450 miles range vs. the S-Class which won't go as far without refuelling). We've started to see truly affordable electric cars which are still packed full of features and great to drive. We've seen an exponential explosion in the number of exceptionally quick public chargers available - 5 years ago 50kW chargers were thin on the ground, now you can find them pretty easily, as well as charging plaza's with 150kW up to 250kW within reasonably easy reach. Look a bit harder and 350kW chagers are out there - delivering up to 80% charge in less time than it'd take to enjoy a service station coffee. The advances made in just 5 years have been staggerng and show no signs of slowing down. However, the cost and tax benefits associated with EV's are still there, especially for company users, so if ever there was a time to embrace EV's, it's now! https://lnkd.in/emFJYrPk
