Man-made toxins damaging human health sounded like the stuff of sci-fi when I first heard it in functional medicine training. I've done a deep dive to learn where these molecules hide and what we can do to protect our ourselves and our loved ones. Check out my blog that explores the impact of toxins on an autoimmune condition like multiple sclerosis. https://lnkd.in/gnQK8_-5

Silver is known to be cytotoxic, both from studies showing it directly, and from a biological plausibility perspective. Why would it kill microbes and not at least slow the motility of WBCs? When a patient seems likely to delay changing saturated dressings or returning for followup for me to do so, I use a dressing that has locked-in silver. That way, the silver does not damage the WBCs or new granulation tissue, but it does prevent the microbes that the dressing has pulled from the wound bed from multiplying in the dressing and recontaminating the wound. When I expect adherence to my treatment plan (most patients), I just use the continuously cleansing dressing without silver. The patient's body is empowered to manage the few pathogens that are not removed by my initial irrigation and the dressing's maintenance cleansing. In my experience, this is quite effective at preventing and managing wound infections - no antimicrobials or antiseptics are required.

When we compared conventional cooling methods versus any type of standard treatment (including a body temperature of 36 °C), we found that participants in the therapeutic hypothermia group were more likely to reach a favorable neurological outcome (risk ratio (RR) 1.41, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.12 to 1.76; 11 studies, 3914 participants). When it comes to chronic pain conditions like migraines or long Covid, medical experts tend to overlook ancillary symptoms. However, the latest research from the Netherlands highlights the reality of fatigue and brain fog associated with Long Covid and its likely link to muscle cell mitochondria issues resulting in widespread abnormalities in muscle tissue. Staying informed about the latest research is key to better understanding and managing these conditions. #chronicpain #longcovid #research https://lnkd.in/gZKdTfF4
