This recent publication by Dr Brent Venning and Professor Jon Emery highlights the important role GPs play in early cancer detection within primary care. This paper highlights the significance of cancer diagnosis by GPs, emphasizing the importance of increased awareness and proactive measures in primary care settings. Primary care plays such a such a key role in diagnosis, but it can also play a key role for people in terms of longer term symptom burden education, and readiness and referral for post-acute care interventions and services. If we can all work together, the person living with or beyond cancer will have better outcomes at all levels of care. #CancerDiagnosis #GeneralPractice #EarlyDetection #PrimaryCare #selsus #cancersupportivecare

Coming back from #ASCO2024, I’m both optimistic and overwhelmed by the new treatment possibilities and the bright future for cancer patients. However, a lingering question remains: why is so little attention given to the patient? Not just the tumor or the biomarker, but the actual patients themselves. Who are they? What’s important to them? What barriers and challenges do they face? At Leal Health, we are committed to driving the industry towards true patient-centricity by understanding the entire patient journey. We focus on the patient’s needs, preferences, and obstacles, ensuring that they are at the center of every decision. I am thrilled to share that we published two abstracts at #ASCO2024, highlighting the benefits of digital health in bridging gaps in cancer care.
