Sometimes, inspiration comes in the form of a furry friend! 🐶 I recently stumbled upon this heartwarming video on my phone from our annual Face-to-Face meeting in Colorado. Our incredible DEI trainer surprised us all by bringing an adorable puppy to the Coleman team gathering. And let me tell you, the impact was far greater than any of us could have imagined. As a Chief Innovation Officer, I'm constantly seeking ways to cultivate an environment that encourages innovation, growth, and, most importantly, inclusivity. That day, with our furry companion, we achieved all of that and more. The puppy created a space where walls came down, laughter echoed through the room, and bonds were strengthened. Innovation doesn't always have to start with technology or processes. Sometimes, it begins with fostering a sense of belonging, and our four-legged friend did just that. We found that when people feel comfortable, valued, and part of a caring community, their creativity and willingness to collaborate soar to new heights. This experience reinforced the importance of thinking outside the box and embracing unconventional approaches to innovation. It reminded us that innovation isn't just about technology; it's about the people, the culture, and the relationships we build along the way. Let the summer fun begin! In this episode of Waypost In The Wild, we ring-in the summer with another Twin Cities Supply Chain Leader Round Table event at the Eliassen Group Tiki Lounge. Our guests gathered for one final get-together before the kiddos come home and the craziness of summer fun begins. We shared and leveraged each other's experiences in supply chain work to help each other solve problems and build a local supply chain leader community. How to make a case competition feel and look like a fun company outing? Ask Carambole! We did a bombastic workshop together with WeTransfer back in 2019! I am sure most of you know this name because almost everyone at some point had to move a very large file around. It had an innovative concept because it was created at the intersection of a fun game and a business case competition. On the one hand, it had all the elements of a fun company outing: a cool venue, mingling with your colleagues and having fun together, lots of drinks, and delicious chocolate; but on the other hand, it was also a real business situation where expertise, collaboration, creative thinking, and presentation skills came in handy. Competing that day was worth it because, of course, there was a prize - a whole 1 kilogram of the highest quality craft chocolate from Krak! Basically, it was a full-cycle chocolate production in the form of friendly competition. 5 teams with 10 people in each team were creating a concept for a new chocolate, and it was quite a challenge: how to come up with a custom taste, an attractive packaging, and an idea that would resonate with the judges and beat other teams' ideas and execution? First and foremost, all the team should be made of team members with various skill sets. A team member from the Design department would then be in charge of packaging, and a team member from the Marketing department would have the edge in crafting a market strategy… you get the gist. Then great collaboration and teamwork come into play! And this is what would make this event great for the teams; it brings the people together in a way different from their everyday work: it creates new connections, it boosts creativity and interdepartmental connections, and after all - it is just a lot of fun! I wouldn't oversell if I said It was great! You could feel the buzz of creativity; it filled the room and from it a bunch of very cool ideas were born. Everyone was invested in getting their team to win; great projects were presented at the end. Team Parallel hasn’t had a meeting in a conference room since circa February 2020, but as of lately a lot of celebrities seem to be? We’ve noticed a trend of ads featuring talent in conference rooms (beyond this Dunkin ad, Michael Cera x CeraVe, the cast of the Office x ATT, to name a few), and while these ads are mining the comedic potential, there’s a serious trend underpinning it: it’s becoming more and more normal for celebrities and creators to end up in actual board rooms as they take on more prominent roles in startups. It’s enough to make us want to get a conference room again, just to see who might show up… #talentdeals #equitydeals #celebrityinvestors
