The book reviews human history in easy-to-read terms, sprinkled with fairy tales, legends and stories that explain how we took such a violent turn to get us to where we are today. The book also offers hope on who we are and what we can do to get back on track to a more cooperative, peaceful future. I hope you will tune in today to IT'S ALL ABOUT FOOD, for this important conversation. And the book is published by Lantern Publishing & Media so you know it's got to be good!"

#EPSummerReading entry number 6! Volunteer Ellen Novak has submitted The Gift by Edith Eger: "Edith Eger has an amazing life story about surviving the Auschwitz concentration camp and creating a life where she has become a world-famous author and therapist. The Gift follows her first book, The Choice, which details her experiences of unimaginable horror in the concentration camp and how she survived. In this follow-up, Eger explores strategies to move beyond destructive patterns and thoughts that imprison us and to find joy. She shows through examples how not to be a victim but rather a survivor, how to allow all feelings but how not to let negative ones rule your life. She emphasizes kindness to oneself and to let go of judgment. In this easy-to-read book, Eger concludes that although we can’t change what has happened or how we have felt or behaved, we can use the suffering to find a gift in our lives. Both books are powerful and filled with hard-won wisdom."

What can be learned from a book about its #history? A book can tell us a story—not only with the help of the content itself but also with the aid of small clues hidden within it. We must ask ourselves: Was it given as a gift? What collection did it come from, a private or public one? We have to check if it has a dedication, and decipher who the owners were. In the project 'The Library of Lost Books,' we seek to trace the books from the library of the Higher Institute for Jewish Studies in Berlin, which was looted by the Nazis and scattered around the world. With the help of all those little clues, we can trace the history and determine through whose hands the books passed until they reached us. Slowly, we will find all those lost books. The first new review in over a month. "My Perfect Wife, Her Perfect Son" is being discounted at your favorite online booksellers, both in the hardcover and electronic editions. It will make a great gift for Mother's Day. Thanks. Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2024 Verified Purchase It's easy to imagine Jesus, Mary and Joseph as a perfect little family surrounded by barn animals and wisemen because that's the nativity scene many of us put out every Christmas. But how often do we think about Jesus as a toddler, a young boy, or a teenager? More importantly from the novel's perspective, how often do we think about Joseph and what his life was like? Benevento crafts a beautiful story around those lives - from Joseph's not-so-perfect perspective. There are moments of humor that are enjoyable, but the real genius comes from the unfolding and growth of Joseph's character throughout the novel. He is forced to grapple with many complex questions about himself and his family and does so in a very believable and moving way. The author brings these "characters" to life - so, whether you believe in the virgin birth or any of the Christian mythology, it doesn't matter. Any reader can enjoy this thoughtful and well-researched novel about a fascinating family that would change history.
