One year after the application process began, I can finally say that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has chosen MCE to receive $1 million to coordinate a participatory budgeting process with communities most impacted by pollution! We'll be hosting focus groups with translators, childcare, food, and stipends to gather community feedback on the future of regional clean transportation investments. This effort includes the contributions of 20+ of our local partners and will be engaging 600+ residents to ensure their priorities are met as we make the transition to a clean cars, busses, and fleets. At minimum, this means 45+ new charging stations, EV discounts to 100+ residents, and 4 plans for fleet conversions. 🌟 Save the date! 🗓 I'm excited to share an article I wrote about last year's East Oakland Futures Fest. In this article, I reflect on the power of the Deep East Oakland Cultural Corridor. Together, we celebrated our rich cultural heritage and envisioned a future where Black people thrive in Oakland, the Bay Area, and beyond 💫 We're coming together again this year, bringing artists, activists, and community members to celebrate and imagine.
