Proud to present Ron Volcan, the latest Limited Edition concept from our friends at The Alpinist | Premium Spirits The challenge required the concept development and physical execution of a packaging project that had multiple purposes: from carrying the bottle, to serve as glorifier, to possibly have further use, making the client keep the brand visible, after the liquor was consumed. Inspired in Volcan Baru, in Panama, where the rum is from, we conceptualized a multi-layer/material packaging that resembled incandescent lava emerging from the mountain, cooling down on its way to the surface. That principle drove us to plan an art paper-based pyramid, with a base of EVA, encapsulating the bottle, while a further metallic die cut grid closed it up, on top of it. The grid possesses a hole, right on top, where the height of the bottle is designed so that stopper emerges from the grid, symbolizing an erupting volcano. The user experience is very particular, as they have to remove the grid, so that the mountain "erupts" opening partially from the sides and back, and totally at the front, becoming a glorifier. On top of it, the igneous rock inspired die cut grid, becomes recipient for a rum scented candle, that projects a shadow in the walls, giving the grid extended life span.
