BRIJLALL                           WSIB ANTISEMITISM, HATRED, AND RASESS; After a workplace accident, WSIB put me through hell and made my injuries twice as worse   permanently then robbed me of my benefits just because of the colour of my skin. Sandra Di Carlo the case manager took me out from physio therapy that was helping me with my recovery and sent me to wsib Doctor and physio therapy that made my injuries twice as worse permanently. Deb Remekie, The lady at WSIB that robbed me of my benefit, she said that I can sell jewelry, she thinks because I am black I can steal jewelry and sell, so she decided to rob me of my benefit. And it's not a joke she said it verbally and in writing. And believed it or not the APPEALS TRIBUNAL agreed with her without a doubt or any question Atal. The Tribunal did not look at my file, apparently they don't even care to look at my file. The Board is an independent decision-making body that functions at arm’s length from the government. Response from the Deputy Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development The ministry is responsible for the legislative framework for workplace safety and insurance in Ontario. The WSIB is an independent organization that operates at arm’s length from the ministry and oversees the administration of workplace safety and insurance benefits and services. As a result, the Minister  and ministry staff cannot comment on or get involved in individual cases. Not even the Fair Practices Commissioner will Intervene.

Hello everyone, This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2024! To celebrate this, we recently spoke to Finley an intern on the ClwydAlyn Project Search programme. For his Second Rotation Finley has been working as a Kitchen Assistant in local Care Home. Please read below to hear about his experiences on his rotation..... Hi my name is Finley, for my Second rotation I have been working as a Kitchen Assistant in a Local Care Home. My day to day tasks include: Cleaning surfaces, laying the tables and serving the puddings to the residents and folding the napkins. I also put out the sauces, Load and unload the dishwasher, preparing the vegetables, helping to make the sandwiches and grating the cheese. Making sure the kitchen is tidy by putting things away, helping to clean the fridge and putting the food away in the fridge. What things have you found difficult on your rotation? I have found it difficult to learn how to move things safely I now a trolley to help me. I also found folding the napkins quite tricky as its quite fiddly so I asked for help with this. Setting the tables up quickly has also been hard. What skills have you learnt on your rotation? I have learnt about Customer Services and Product presentation and improved my skills in both of these areas. My listening skills have gotten better by listening to the staff and residents. I have also improved my peeling skills. What have you been doing on Project Search this term? Recently I attended a reverse Jobs fair and met with employers and talked about my skills and experience. I have completed my Food Hygiene Level 2 and a first Aid awareness course. We have done some classroom work on Health and Safety and done a bit of interview practise. For my rotation I had an interview which we prepared for by going through the questions before hand this made me feel prepared. Well done Finley you are doing amazing on your rotation! What are your top three productivity tips for a successful workday? Listen to good music during your commute, have a cup of coffee ASAP, and keep an arsenal of snacks on hand. 2. If you could share some advice with your younger self, what would it be? The main advice I would give my younger self is to not underestimate herself. I would tell her to be confident in her abilities and knowledge, and if she doesn’t believe me, I’ll give her a blip of the things I’ve accomplished thus far—things like getting into and going to USC, which was something that the younger me dreamed of but didn’t think was possible. 3. What inspired you to pursue a career in your current field of study? I have always loved real estate, even when I was younger. I would watch HGTV’s Flip or Flop every day during the summer, and during my free time, I would endlessly search Zillow just for fun. However, early on I knew I didn't want to work in residential real estate, but I had a passion for the real estate industry. This was when I started searching for other options; I came across commercial real estate and found it to be the perfect fit. 4. As a child, what career did you want to have when you “grew up?” As a child, I always wanted to be a veterinarian because I love animals, especially dogs. I currently have 2 Australian Shepherds and am hoping to get another in the future. 5. If you could try something knowing you would not fail, what would it be? If I were guaranteed not to fail at something, I would go skydiving. It is something I've always been interested in doing; however, the fear of it going badly has stopped me. With no risk of failing or falling out of the sky uncontrollably, I would take the chance to skydive for the first time. #CenterSquare #SummerInternship #Spotlight

Get to know our team! Today we are featuring Lucas Greenberg our summer intern from Case Western Reserve University! What do you do at UH Ventures in one sentence? - I've been interning with Matthew Zenker and the new UH Haslam Sports Innovation Center with their incoming deal flow. I research, analyze, and compile a variety of data and information to assess sports-medicine and health companies/markets to help accelerate and invest in them. I'm also working on the upcoming SportsLand event with Patricia Colella, MBA, by helping out in all areas of event management. What are your favorite things to do outside of school? - I love to exercise and try new workouts, but more importantly, I love to eat. During COVID, I began cooking and baking as a way to unwind; I try to make a meal four times a week. My favorite dish to make is my grandfather’s shrimp and pea risotto. Favorite binge-worthy TV show? - The Office. I have seen The Office over five times and I can quote certain scenes by heart! What is your favorite restaurant in Cleveland? - Batuqui; a fun Brazilian summer dinner spot. What do you love about Cleveland? - I was born and raised all around Cleveland, and throughout my time, there has been one constant: the people. I’ve talked to a few seniors recently about the transition from student life to the ‘real world’ and I think it’s important for employers to remember that there’s a huge emotional - and often physical - transition process that students go through when they close their course books for the final time. Obviously, there’s the economic issue of ensuring that you have money coming in to pay the bills. But there’s also the personal component of being ripped from a large group of friends, often being dumped into a new city or location, and having to come up to speed with a new day-to-day reality. And yet employers still expect new starters to hit the ground running. That’s despite the fact that even the most seasoned new employee takes 180 days or so to come up to ‘full productivity’. So imagine what it’s like for a student in their first job. It’s little surprise that outstanding students like Arden Jordan would describe the transition as bittersweet. There’s certainly excitement at the start of life in ‘the real world’ but there’s genuine apprehension too. That’s why we created the Boldsquare residency, to take away some of that mystique of the workplace, and not just provide marketing skills to students but also give them a sense of what it will be like to work in an agency environment. The Boldsquare residents will still need to make the adjustment from campus to workplace, but hopefully the shift is faster and more effective. That’s good for employers, and it’s good for new graduates too.
