#TeachingTuesday with Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies Students in Ms. Fortmayer’s sixth grade science classes were making models of plant and animal cells using materials from a recent DonorsChoose project. Learning about plant and animal cells through creating models is essential for students' understanding of cellular biology. Building these models provides a hands-on way to visualize and explore the structures of cells, like nuclei, mitochondria, and chloroplasts. This approach engages students actively, prompting critical thinking as they consider organelle shapes, sizes, and functions. Collaborative model-making activities also foster teamwork and communication skills. Overall, constructing cell models enhances learning by making complex concepts more tangible and encouraging creativity in studying biology. #JPSchools #TT #MiddleSchool #Science #6thGrade #PlantCells #AnimalCells #models #ChooseJPSchools

#snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking Hey Connection👋 Here is my article on "World of Biohacking and DIY Biology" In the realm of cutting-edge technological exploration, biohacking and DIY biology are emerging as transformative frontiers. Enthusiasts and innovators are stepping beyond traditional laboratory confines, engaging in hands-on genetic experimentation and biotechnological endeavors. Biohacking involves the manipulation of biological systems, often conducted by individuals outside conventional research environments. DIY biology extends this concept to a broader community, fostering a grassroots approach to genetic exploration. These endeavors range from genetic engineering projects in garages to community-driven labs. This movement democratizes access to biotechnology, empowering individuals to explore genetic modifications, create new organisms, or devise innovative solutions to biological challenges. DIY biologists are not only driven by curiosity but also by a desire to contribute to fields such as medicine, agriculture, and environmental conservation.

Learning and brain function may be more complex than we thought as this Caribbean box jellyfish seem to do it without a central brain as shown in this new research at Kiel University shows, making learning new tricks "literally a no-brainer." This jellyfish has 4 learning centers called rhopalia distributed over its body, each with 1.000 neuron and six eyes. The research shows that these are capable of learning, but they perform this task individually. One question the #researchers ask now is "if a jellyfish loses one of its rhopalia, does it forget everything those eyes saw and the neurons had learned? Or do the other rhopalia remember it?" #learning #learningprogress #brain #brainfunction #biology 30 https://lnkd.in/dhXVsRV6

🔬 Exploring the Wonders of Animal Cells! 🔍 Did you know that animal cells, the building blocks of life, are packed with fascinating features? 🐾 Let's dive into some intriguing facts: Cellular Powerhouses: Mitochondria, often called the "powerhouses" of the cell, generate energy through cellular respiration. They convert nutrients into ATP, the energy currency of the cell! 💪🔋 Cellular Communication: Animal cells communicate through gap junctions, allowing them to exchange ions, molecules, and other essential information. Teamwork at its finest! 🤝📞 Dynamic Cytoskeleton: The cytoskeleton provides structural support and facilitates cellular movement. Microtubules and microfilaments act like a cell's internal highway system! 🚗🛣️ Molecular Mail Delivery: The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is like a cellular post office, ensuring proteins and lipids are synthesized and delivered to their designated locations. 📬📦 Cellular Recycling Center: Lysosomes are the cell's recyclers, breaking down waste materials and cellular debris. A crucial part of cellular maintenance! ♻️🗑️ Nucleus: Command Center: The nucleus contains the cell's genetic material and serves as the command center for cellular activities. It's like the brain of the cell! 🧠💻 Cellular Identity: Every animal cell carries a unique set of surface proteins that act like cellular ID cards, allowing cells to recognize and interact with one another. 🆔🤝 Isn't it amazing how these tiny structures work together to sustain life? 🌐✨ Let's celebrate the incredible complexity of animal cells and the wonders of cellular biology! 🎉🔬 #CellBiology #ScienceWonders #AnimalCells #BiologyExploration
