WOW! 3 years have come and gone in the blink of an eye. It feels like yesterday I jumped feet first into a role that I really didn’t know what to expect. Sure, I had been on the other end of recruiting calls and really didn’t love that part of the experience, to be honest… But, the pandemic had shifted things for me and I decided why not entertain a conversation... and I am SO grateful I did. What interested me most was my conversations with Kim, Laura, Beth, and Katelynn (among others). What they had shared they loved about their career in recruiting thus far just happened to align with a few core values important to me: ✨Connecting with people✨ ▫️ This was a large reason why I left public accounting in the first place, and something I had lost in my yoga/fitness/retail sales journey during the pandemic, and missed greatly. ✨Helping others✨ ▫️ Coming from an accounting background, this holds a special place for me in an effort to ‘match’ organizations with finance and accounting talent they can retain for years to come. From a candidate perspective, the ability to bring opportunities to the table they may not have even known about or that align with what is most important to them in their life today. ✨Emphasis on a team environment and focusing on long-term relationships (versus short-term gains)✨ ▫️ You win some, you lose some’ – one of my favorite quotes and it never feels good to ‘lose’, but with my background in teaching yoga it is an easy one to lean on when you focus on the big picture, focus on nurturing relationships, and focus on the idea that what you put out into the world will return itself to you in dividends. ▫️So for today - no job postings, no market insights, nothing to share here other than an appreciation for Truity Partners, my team, and to those I have had the good fortune to cross paths with along the way… THANK YOU for entertaining my cold calls, for laughing along with me in my voicemails, for getting honest on what's important to you, for your trust, and for so much more to come. I can't quite believe that it has been 10 years since I set up Acknowledge. The time has gone so quickly and what a journey I have been on as a business owner... ✅ Decided to leave my job whilst on maternity leave with our eldest. ✅ Started working as a freelance designer for a year or so. ✅ Setup Acknowledge without ANY knowledge of running a business but full of excitement and hope. ✅ Had two more children whilst building up the business ✅ Learned how to build a brand ✅ Grew a following with marketing ✅ Learned how to sell ✅ Survived covid ✅ Built business relationships and expanded my network thanks to Collaborate MK , Busy Women Networking, and The Athena Network ✅ Started my second business The Edge Brands ✅ Became a finalist and an award winner ✅ Growing my businesses still with 5 on the team I mean that's a quick snapshot of the business growth I have been on, there's so much more behind that and so much more still yet to do and learn. Half a decade- Wow & Phew! My husband and I chose 27 September as the date of birth for our younger son because our elder one is 27 November, little did we know the third one will also be born on the same day. I remember walking into labor, checking my email for the last time as I thought to myself, the next couple of days will be hectic. The MCA alert popped up and we got our Certificate of Incorporation.  Rest as they say is history. The last 5 years have changed my core as a being, embracing motherhood for the second time and starting a business within two months was tough. Here are my top 5 learnings- 1. You will not always have clarity of thought or things planned till the "T," but that shouldn’t stop you from starting. But you should know when to stop or Pivot. 2. Develop financial discipline early on, we expanded rapidly and had to face some impact this year. 3. One can never really achieve work-life balance, instead, keep your priorities clear. 4. Nothing worthwhile is built without missing something worthwhile, you will end up missing some birthday parties and some evening drinks with colleagues. Try to stay away from FOMO. 5. Work on self-awareness, being your biggest cheerleader is important however; being self-critical is equally important. Remember if you want to see the picture when you're inside the frame, being mindful matters. We are building the plane while flying it, we have some appetitive for innovation and failure but we have tons of passion and endurance. Sometimes we get tired of our own resilience, but we know Rome was not built in a day. My heartfelt gratitude to all our Customers, Candidates, and Suppliers for trusting us and being patient with us. Most importantly allowing a young company to make it big. This wouldn't have happened without my super awesome Humans at Work, everyone who was associated with us, or still is, has made a tremendous difference in our lives for which I will be eternally grateful. Cheers to the next 5! Our best is yet to come.
