CEO at SWF Industrial | Expert in Accountability & Culture | Construction Professional with 15+ Years Experience | Host of 'Just Some BS' Podcast | YouTube Content Creator with 1M+ Views
Come with me on a walk down memory lane...For those of you who don’t know, SWF stands for Stewart Welding & Fabricating, and Stewart refers to my father-in-law Al Stewart. Al started the company in 1984 out of a one-car garage which you can see in the picture.👇 Al bought his first building for the company in 1986 where it grew to 80 employees by 2010. At that time he built his second location which has aided in our growth to our current team of about 150. Al gave everything for his company, I mean literally and figuratively. He was unfortunately diagnosed with Alzheimer’s & Dementia at a young age which ultimately caused his death on Christmas night of 2020. I tell you all this because of the unlikely story of how I came to work with Al and with SWF Industrial Inc.. In the summer of 2018, we called a family meeting due to Al’s health diminishing and his inability to handle some of the day-to-day tasks that he was starting to realize were beyond him. At this family meeting, I was asked if I would be interested in stepping in to help out. At this moment in my life, I was working for a Power plant construction company called Day & Zimmermann and I was very happy in my 10-year employment, 2 of which were in management (I say management because I knew very little about leading) and I had plans to stay there forever. I loved that company and the work I was doing. When making this decision, I knew that it could change the entire course of my life. I turned to my dad for some guidance. I asked him what I should do, he said and “Are you going to look back 5 years from now and ask yourself, What if?”. The answer to that question was of course “Yes”, so I went for it. I started my leadership journey on June 25th, 2018, I had no idea what I was doing, I was just going to try and be the best version of myself each day. The team I walked into at SWF Industrial is the reason this company has always been so strong, Al knew good people, and how to find and keep them based on their tenure at the company. I wouldn’t be the leader I am today without all my team. Their ability to be open to some of my stupid or wild ideas, or guide me through their knowledge and expertise can’t be repaid. My leadership journey will always be ongoing and has had plenty of hiccups along the way but I have learned so much since late June of 2018. I hope Al is happy with the progress that SWF has made and will make in the future. I tell you this for those of you who aren’t sure about submitting for that next promotion or are afraid of failing or letting someone in your life down. I get it. I was afraid of letting the entire family down, especially the legacy of Al, but that is the funny thing about POTENTIAL is sometimes to fulfill POTENTIAL you need a push from someone you trust and you may need to crank that comfort needle way the Hell out there. I’m not sure we will ever be completely “Ready” to fulfill our potential. #ceolife #backstory #vulnerability #leadership

Founder & Chief Shepherd | We teach the habits and disciplines that drive early productivity and high retention.
4x Emmy Nominated. Award Winning. 👇🏼👇🏼 If you are one of these two below, STOP NOW. (b/c you are NOT the two above ☝🏼, but Ross Kimball IS and you need to get him on your radar) 1) If you host a podcast. He will be your next best interview!! His stories are amazing! 2) If you are a financial planning firm looking for the best “non-financial” speaker at your next meeting!! WHY HIRE ROSS?!? I have introduced Ross to a number of my clients, and this is what I say… ”You know how almost every firm meeting that you've ever been to has needed that extra pick me up throughout the day... Typically from someone who is not even "in" our industry... You want that amazing speaker to bring some life and energy back into the room... AND at the same time make a massive impact with the group in an immediately practical way! THAT'S WHY I am making this introduction.” PS - Neither Dave Resseguie nor The Resseguie Group receive any compensation for promoting ANY OTHER SPEAKER. PPS - I decline kickbacks of any kinds for referring people. Ross is just “good people” and you should hire him ASAP.

At Rhode Sense, we find profound wisdom and a call to action in these words from Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1967 speech at Glenville High School. Not just today - but every day: "Be a bush if you cannot be a tree. If you can't be a highway, just be a trail. If you can't be a sun, be a star. For it isn't by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are." In the ever-evolving world of logistics, not every company can be the largest, but every one of us can excel in our unique way. Like the diversity in nature, every role in the logistics chain, no matter its size, is vital. From the vast international shipping lanes to the local trails of last-mile delivery, each plays a critical part. At Rhode Sense, we embrace this ethos wholeheartedly. Whether we are navigating the complex pathways of global supply chains or creating local logistics solutions, our focus remains steadfast - to excel in our capacity. We may not always be the 'sun' overshadowing the industry, but we aim to shine as a 'star' in what we do best. This philosophy guides our approach to service, innovation, and growth. We believe in being the best in our segment, regardless of size or scope. It's not about being the biggest; it's about being the best in our space. Join us at Rhode Sense as we continue to navigate the logistics landscape with dedication, innovation, and a commitment to excellence in every step of our journey. Because, in the end, success in logistics isn't measured by size, but by the quality and impact of our work. On this special occasion and EVERY DAY. WHERE THERE'S A ROAD, WE'LL FIND A WAY.
