2-minute video (thank you Dovid Schick for sharing): Google DeepMind posted this astonishing demo last month. The tester interacts with a prototype of AI agents supported by Google's Project Astra multimodal foundation model, Gemini. There are two continuous takes: one with the prototype running on a Google Pixel phone and another on a prototype glasses device. The agent takes in a constant stream of audio and video input. It can reason about its environment in real time and interact with the tester in a conversation about what it is seeing. Project Astra is a universal AI agent in development by Google DeepMind in a collaboration of different Google products. This demo was presented at the biggest developer conference - Google IO earlier this month. The agent recognises speech and uses vision and context to respond quickly in a human-like conversational tone. The demo below is shot with a combination of Pixel 8 Pro phone and AR glasses and shows how the assistant can interact with visual information and speech recognising objects, physical locations and code. #google #gemini #ai #googleio #pixel

Very impressive video shown at Google IO on DeepMind's vision for AI agents: https://lnkd.in/etW_TMYv . Being able to use real-time image/video processing to feed a multi-modal LLM is certainly where the future is. Just wonder how much processing power is needed to do it all. Note that the responses (in real time) from Gemini are in small font at the bottom of the video, i.e. not the easiest to spot!

Google's Project Astra demo is insanely mind-blowing. Impressive whether staged or not. The breadth of use case in this one got me, as well as the adorable band duo. Let me share my thoughts on this... Google just showed off Project Astra at the Google I/O event. It's their vision for a #future AI assistant powered by the #Gemini model. Astra can handle audio, text, images, and video all in real-time. It's still just a prototype, but it gives us a sneak peek at the next level of human-machine communication. I think that's awesome! It's kind of weird that it can now know where you live and where you left something just because you showed it to it for a few seconds. But I guess new things always freak us out at first. But I don't think this means we won't need to learn anything anymore. I'd love to have my knowledge with me, always. It's faster anyway. And I don't want to depend on any technology. What happens if I don't have a device with me? I need my own knowledge. Plus, I'd rather ask my mom if I need something — it's much faster and sweeter. #ai #whatteensthinkaobutai
