Just launched: Call for Submissions for European Digital Identity Wallets (EUDIW) Prototypes by SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen - the Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation- inspired by the American Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Challenges and Funken are SPRIND's innovation competitions The aim of this Funke is to create prototypes with differing wallet implementations for the most trustworthy, user-friendly, and universally applicable European Digital Identity Wallets (#EUDIW) for users in Germany. These wallets are also to be compatible with applications in the EU and beyond and should be able to be used by individual people and organizations. This Funke focuses on wallets for individuals. This innovation competition will allow multiple teams to test and compare their approaches. It is planned that those teams selected for the second and third stages of the competition accompany the EU-wide testing of their wallets as part of the Large Scale Pilots POTENTIAL. The Funke will provide valuable insights for further developing the concept for eIDAS implementation in Germany. We were delighted to host the One Consortium drinks at our booth last night on behalf of i3Forum. We heard from Philippe Millet of i3Forum, David Rogers MBE of GSMA, Annabel Helm of GLF and Eli Katz of XConnect about One Consortium, an initiative of the i3Forum's #RestoreTrust Project – a global, industry-led drive to ensure that we collaborate to restore the public’s trust in the ecosystem. This complex, global issue requires unprecedented cooperation between industry players and National Regulatory Authorities to ensure we have a united response to the problems we are facing. ‘Trust arrives on foot and departs on horse. To accelerate the industry effort on restoring trust we need substantial global co-ordination and therefore, the i3Forum’s Restoring Trust Initiative – One Consortium – with its active collaboration across industry associations including the GSMA and GLF, is key to addressing these issues.’ Eli Katz, XConnect.
