This is what I do, in a small way.
Unlike traditional pharmacies, specialty pharmacies manage medications that require special handling, administration, or monitoring. This elevated level of service is essential for patients with conditions like cancer, HIV, and autoimmune diseases. #SpecialtyPharmacy #PatientCare

Testicular tumors can be influenced by several factors. One significant risk is undescended testicles, where one or both testicles don't move down into the scrotum before birth. Family history matters too; having a close relative with testicular cancer increases the risk. Certain health conditions, like Klinefelter syndrome or HIV infection, also heighten the chances. Age plays a role, with most cases occurring between the late teens and early 30s. Other factors include race (white men are more likely to develop it) and personal history of testicular cancer. While these factors increase risk, not everyone with them will get testicular cancer, and some people without them may still develop it. Regular check-ups can help catch it early. "Patient-Centered Care" is a popular phrase in healthcare, often used to describe how care models should be designed. But this concept falls short if it doesn't prioritize collaboration among healthcare professionals. No single provider can address all the complex, evolving needs of patients. True patient-centered care requires a team-based approach, where every healthcare professional works together to better serve our communities, tackle health disparities, and improve health outcomes. The American Medical Association should lead efforts to foster collaboration in healthcare. In fact, they’ve already highlighted the value of pharmacists as integral members of the care team in their own toolkit released in 2017. Embedding Pharmacists Into the Practice: Collaborate with Pharmacists to Improve Patient Outcomes | Patient Care | AMA STEPS Forward | AMA Ed Hub link: https://lnkd.in/emGssc9J After a global pandemic that left so many healthcare workers burned out, it's clear that we must support each other—regardless of titles or degrees. Only by working together can we ensure the best care for our patients and communities. #HealthcareCollaboration #PatientCenteredCare #TeamBasedCare #TeamworkInHealthcare #CommunityCare
🚨 URGENT: The AMA is raising concerns about scope creep in pharmacy practice, but we can't ignore the health disparities impacting our communities! Minority groups are disproportionately affected by heart disease, cancer, and HIV/AIDS. Happy to share my latest publication! Here, we describe disengagement patterns leading to mortality among a cohort of people with HIV and Hepatitis C. What did we find: 👆 Disengagement from clinical care was common and resulted in higher death rates. 👆 People lost from care were more likely to require HCV treatment, highlighting a priority population for HCV elimination strategies. https://lnkd.in/edZqbr6Q

Understanding the risk factors for cervical cancer empowers proactive steps towards prevention. The following are some risk factors for Cervical Cancer. 1. Almost all cervical cancers are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), a common virus that can be passed from one person to another during sex. 2. Weakened Immune System: Conditions like HIV/AIDS can heighten susceptibility. 3. Smoking: A habit that not only increases risk but can prolong HPV infections. 4. Early Sexual Debut and Multiple Partners 5. Prolonged contraceptive pill use 6. High Parity- The more children a woman gives birth to, the greater her risk for cervical cancer.
